Dreamscape Entertainment Television and ABS-CBN’s newest primetime drama series “Honesto” aims to highlight the importance of honesty among their televiewers.
Biboy Arboleda, AdProm Head of Dreamscape, explained that “Honesto” follows one of their traditions of producing shows that advocate positive values. They started four years ago with “May Bukas Pa,” which gave importance to faith. It was also a show that gave rise to the words “Amen” and “Bro” (in reference to God or Jesus) among its viewers. Next was “100 Days To Heaven,” which advocated the importance of forgiveness. Both shows also launched the careers of child actors Zaijan Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat, respectively.
“‘Honesto’ comes in na katapatan ang itinutulak namin. Honest ‘to, promise, pamamaraan ito and may mensahe itong teleseryesng ito to encourage and inspire Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad na magising ulit tayo na mahalaga ang katapatan,” he said.
Keeping true to their tradition, they are again launching their newest child wonder discovery – five year old Raikko Matteo. And as proven by the past two teleserye that starred Zaijan and Xyriel, it’s already expected that Raikko will win the hearts of their Kapamilya viewers.
“Honesto” tackles the life of its titular character, played by Raikko, and his mother Fina played by Maricar Reyes. Fina left her family from the boondocks to look for the father of her child (Diego played by Paulo Avelino). What’s magical about Fina’s family is that they live and breathe honesty and are all trustworthy. Unfortunately for Fina, she fell in love with Diego, whose intention was to con her into revealing more of the mysteries her family possesses. In the process she learned to lie.
According to Biboy, Raikko landed the coveted role against other three child actors who auditioned. And like Dreamscapes’ past child actors, Raikko’s eyes – described as very emotive –were instrumental in him being chosen.
“I fell in love already with his mata. Pag mag-zero-in kayo sa mga mata ng batang ito, it holds a lot of innocence and promise,” Biboy shared.
More than his eyes, Raikko’s other arsenal in bagging the role was his passion in acting. When asked how he felt about his role, he exclaimed that he has always dreamed of becoming an actor because he wants to see himself on television.
So is Raikko a good boy as Honesto?
“Opo kasi matapat po siya at hindi nagsisinungaling. Gumagamit po siya ng ‘po’ at ‘opo’ at hindi po siya supladong bata,” Raikko replied.
So far, Raiko’s journey as a raw child actor has been smooth.
“Honesto’s” director Jerry Sineneng, who has directed a number of ABS-CBN’s child actors before and who is now part of the network’s creme dela creme directors, is confident that Raikko is a rising star in the making. His passion in acting is already exemplified at work. He said that after every take, Raikko would run to him and watch the playback of his scene.
“Magaling po siya. Ang maganda sa bata yung attitude niya sa work niya. By nature masayahin siya and bubbly. Well natural naman sa mga bata yung span of attention niya maiksi, pero kakaiba yung batang ito, pagtinawag mo na nasa yo na agad ang attention niya. Saka honest siya umarte,” Jerry described.
The other main stars on “Honesto,” like Philippine Cinema’s legendary Eddie Garcia and Janice de Belen, an icon in Philippine soap opera, have only honest and positive things to say about Raikko.
Eddie commented, “Itong batang ito napakagaling, masayahin at very attentive. Alam niya ang ginagampanan niya.”
While Janice, who was a child wonder on the soap “Flor de Luna” in the ‘80s said, “Okay naman siya. Nakakatuwa siya kasi gustong-gusto niya ang ginagawa niya and napaka-bubbly niya.”
“Honesto” also stars Angel Aquino, Joel Torre, Nonie Buencamino, Melissa Ricks and Joseph Marco among others. And it airs every night after “TV Patrol.”
