Regine Velasquez thanked Alicia Keys via social media for giving her the chance to sing with the Grammy Award-winning artist during the latter’s one-night concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Monday.
Velasquez uploaded two clips of their surprise duet on her Instagram account (reginevalcasid), expressing her gratitude to the R&B singer-songwriter for “having me on your show.”
The two sang Keys’ hit “If I Ain’t Got You,” which the American hitmaker dedicated to the Filipino people.
“Thank you so much for all that you do, all the love that you give. This song is dedicated to you,” Keys said during the concert.
Velasquez had a ball indeed, as evidenced by the caption to one of her videos: “Eh ’yung napapasayaw ako we love you @aliciakeys whoooohoooo!!!!”
The production number came as a surprise to the audience who attended the Manila leg of Keys’ “Set The World On fire Tour,” as no one expected Velasquez to perform with the international recording artist.
The Filipina songstress also posted her photo with Keys with the caption, “With @aliciakeys Ngayon lang ako nakakilala ng taong mas maliit ang face kesa sakin faney moment lang. Thank you again Ms Alicia Keys to God be the Glory.”
Aside from Velasquez, Keys also had an unexpected number with Fil-Am artist apl.de.ap, performing a mix of her own song “No One” with the Black Eyed Peas’ “Where Is The Love?”
