Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo
Fans of the now defunct “My Husband’s Lover,” rejoice – the unaired lip-lock scene of Vincent and Eric played by Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo respectively is available in the DVD edition of the series.
The kissing scene was anticipated from the start of the series. But even then, “MHL” director Dominic Zapanta had qualms of doing scene unless MTRCB reprimands them. When they finally mustered the courage to include a kissing scene towards the end of the series, it wasn’t allowed to air.
Dennis admitted that he and Tom were a bit disappointed. “Hindi siya pinalabas so may panghihinayang factor kasi hindi naman namin madaling ginawa Ito…less than five seconds. Maganda pa naman yung kinalabasan kaya nanghihinayang kami,” lamented Dennis. “Pero yung mga bibili ng DVD kasama siya sa Special Features.”
Tom’s reaction, “Ang ganda ng shot ni direk Dom doon. First time kong gumawa ng ganung eksena, nakaka-nerbyos pero ng panuorin namin napaka-tasteful. As in makikita mo Vincent Eric naman ito at hindi Tom and Dennis. Kahit kami makikita namin sa story napaka-tasteful and napaka-wholesome pa rin (ng pagkakagawa) para sa mga audience.”
At the moment, the Tom and Dennis love team has gone beyond television, to concert performances and recording the GMA Records album containing songs from the series and personal favorites of the two stars.
Both were surprised when offered to record an album in line with the Tom and Dennis love team. Dennis and Tom have backgrounds as recording artists from different recording labels. Dennis as a solo rock artist and Tom as member of Voiz Boyz.
Titled “TomDen” the album’s intention is to retest Eric and Vincent’s love story through love songs. The songs in the album include duets by Tom and Dennis like “One More Try” and “Forever;” Tom’s solo numbers like “Ikaw Ang Sagot,” “Photograph” and “Hey It’s Me” and Dennis Trillo’s “Kailan Man,” “It’s Over Now” and “Stay.”
Dennis and Tom were in character when they recorded the songs.
“Ganun din ang mga iniisip namin kapag we’re guided by our vocal coaches. Parang isipin mo na parang ganito ang sinasabi mo kay Vincent para mas maramdaman namin yung mga kanta. Ako kasi matagal mag-warm-up kaya kailangan yung mga guidelines nila para mas maramdaman mo yung kanta at mas lumabas yung puso,” Dennis said.
Before the album was made available on digital format, it debuted at the 9th slot on iTunes Philippines’ Top Albums chart based on full album downloads. It was also reported to have topped the charts the following day.
Aside from album promotions, TomDen will have a US Tour this November and December.
