Top betting sites give Ariella Arida best odds to win Miss Universe as ‘rematch’ with Miss USA looms

Would you bet against Miss Philippines Ariella Arida to win this year’s Miss Universe pageant? Not if you’ll take the word of the world’s best gamblers.

If the coronation night were held today, Arida would run away with the coveted Nexus crown and become the country’s third Miss Universe titlist. Nicer Odds, a UK-based group that has been comparing odds since the 1980s whose website started in 2003, has compiled the betting odds of the top five betting sites online.

All five sites, namely Bet365, Betfair, BetVictor, Sbobet and YouWin pick Miss Philippines with the best odds of winning the title.

“Each site has a different system to measure the odds, which means this can vary quite a bit from site to site, making it very important to make the right choice. The best gamblers choose where they place their bets with great care,” Nicer Odds posted in explaining how the five betting sites came out with their odds-on picks.

In terms of European odd units, Arida’s highest odds of 5.00 and lowest odds of 2.75 is way better than the odds of Miss USA Erin Brady who has a high of 6.00 and a low of 9.00 as the second candidate most likely to win Miss Universe. In UK odd units, Bet365 and YouWin both pick Miss Philippines as a 2/1 favorite to win the title. US odds, on the other hand, give Arida a range of a +175 to a +400 which is still higher than the rest of pageant’s 85 other contestants.

Rounding up the top 10 odds-on picks after Miss Philippines and Miss USA are Miss Spain Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, Miss Poland Paulina Krupinska, Miss Panama Carolina Brid, Miss France Hinirani de Longeaux, Miss India Manasi Moghe, Miss Russia Elmira Abdrazokova, Miss Brazil Jakelyne Oliveira and Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler.

With Miss USA ranked second in the betting pool, a “rematch” between Miss Philippines and Miss USA is also looming on the horizon. Last year, Miss USA Olivia Culpo won the crown on American soil as Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon settled for 1st runner-up.

A victory by Brady would make the USA only the second country to win back-to-back Miss Universe titles after Venezuela first pulled the rare feat in 2008 and 2009.

Of course, the betting odds are still likely to dramatically change, depending on who does well in the pageant’s preliminary competition for swimwear and evening gown on November 5 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow. If Ariella Arida continues her winning ways, then there’s no reason why the odds will not remain in her favor.

The coronation night of Miss Universe 2013 will be held in the same venue on November 9.
