To a bulge-free New Year

Sports enthusiasts, celebrities and their trainers and coaches, gym members and their friends enjoyed a rather rowdy night when Elorde – Ortigas and its sister branch Elorde – Marcos Highway held their annual Christmas party at the latter branch.

The event kicked off when former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate and RX 93.1 DJ Rico Robles threw an impromptu ice breaker that inspired guests to share each other’s boxing anecdotes. Then the merry-making went full throttle when trainers did three-round bouts against each other.

Lovi Poe arrived with Rocco Nacino (who is also part-owner of both gyms) and mingled with the crowd. Both celebrities swear by the discipline that has kept them in the best shape. Rocco claims that boxing improves his stamina for those long hours on set, and gives him the mental focus to tackle his showbiz commitments.

“It takes the steam off and really just relaxes me after a grueling Muay Thai training. Focusing on the energy to deliver a strong kick and blow can be the better way to vent away stress most especially in my line of work,” he said. Thanks to boxing, Rocco has no need for nasty juice diets (wink!).

Also seen in the event were comedian Eri Neeman and FHM girl and DJ Karen Bordador.

Surely, choosing to be active is the best New Year’s resolution to keep unwanted bulges at bay. Both Elorde – Ortigas and Elorde – Marcos Highway branches offer “early-bird promos” (off peak hours at cheaper rates) and the “gym-swap” (just show your membership card from a different gym and “swap it” with an instant Elorde Gym membership).
