Although they are yet to celebrate their first year together in March, Aiza Seguerra and girlfriend Liza Diño happily marked Jan. 8 to be a special day for them. One year ago on this day, the former high school friends-turned-couple met again after years with any communication.
After losing touch with each other, Liza actually pursued a different career in the US after her beauty queen stint. She now has a five-year-old child by a former relationship.
“January 8, 2013. I saw you again after years of not being in contact with each other. I remember being so excited pero ayoko ipahalata coz ‘catching up’ lang naman talaga ang pakay natin nung araw na yun. Finally, I saw you. You were wearing a grey top. Your hair looked amazing. You were sweating a lot but you looked so beautiful.
“Naaalala ko, kinilig ako nun kaso pinigilan ko sarili ko kasi ‘friends’ lang tayo dapat. We started talking, oh how i loved our conversation. Parang kahit ang tagal natin hindi nagkita at nagusap, we felt so at ease with each other. Kung paano tayo 13 years back, ganon pa rin tayo. I never thought seeing you again would change my life. How a simple ‘catching up’ lunch would turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to me,” gushed the singer-actress in the caption in one of the couple’s several photos on her Instagram (cyseguerra).

Referring to Liza as her “soul mate” and tagging themselves as “zaza,” Aiza ended her post with: “I found you all over again and this time I’m never letting go. You make me the happiest, my love. I can’t help but look back on that day and just be amazed how the universe works to bring two people together. It feels so good that from that day i saw you again and everyday we have been together, i fall in love with you over and over again. Deeper and deeper each time. January 8 is a day i will never forget. It’s the day when my life finally began. I love you so much. More and more each day. You make me the happiest. #zazasoulmates.”
Liza, for her part, replied via her Instagram account (lizadino). She posted, “natawa ko sa ‘sweating a lot but you looked beautiful’. haha! I was probably so nervous – ahhh, 13 long years, who wouldve thought? i will never forget how I tried to look cool as I approach you… Gone are the long hair and harry potter glasses you used to wear back in high school; I remember being so amazed kasi ang cool-cool na ng dating mo. nakabeats neadphones ka pa… laid back, casual but very urban.
“I couldnt believe my eyes – how could we let years pass without wven (even) being in touch? im just so happy fate found a way to bring us back together. You make me the happiestest (competitive lang talaga hehe)… I love you so so much.”
The former beauty queen-turned-actress also shared moments captured on their special day. “On our way to Chocolate kiss in UP for lunch #oneyearafter #zazasoulmates #zazaadventures #januaryeight,” Liza posted on Instagram.
It can be recalled that during Aiza’s “Power of 2: Unbreakable Tour” concert with Charice last September, the “Pagdating Ng Panahon” hitmaker declared her love for Liza, who was part of the audience. After much speculation, Aiza and Liza only went public with their relationship thereafter, as seen on their respective social media accounts and interviews.
