Boon for sun worshippers

The prolonged effects of the chilly polar vortex did not spare ol’ Metro Manila. In fact, I’ve been checking out photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and I find it rather odd seeing people in jackets in the middle of the day. Though some of my friends are enjoying the wintry ambiance, others have opted to explore sun-drenched beaches and get a tan.

Paredes and Nicole Andersson, trooped to the sunny beach paradise of El Nido recently. As soon as they got off the plane, these brave sun-seekers wasted no time combing the beautiful island teeming with bountiful wildlife that is, of course, protected and shouldn’t be bothered with.

The visit came courtesy of the company that originally discovered SPF, Nivea. Apparently, the company was launching a brand new product called “Protect and Bronze” and they wanted the celebrities to try it themselves and see how it could help protect them from the sun’s harmful UV rays but at the same time stimulate melanin production using ingredients derived from licorice.

The company’s country manager, Alex Schwieger say: “This is the first-ever sunscreen in the market that can stimulate the skins natural tanning process, and at the same time enhance its built-in protective mechanism because of melanin production.”

I guess these celebrity sun worshippers were able to enjoy the best of both worlds – tanning and sun protection!
