Not long ago, tattoos were mainly associated with convicts and gangsters. Today, it is considered a form of art, supposedly a style of self-expression, as popularized by a huge number of celebrities.


Among local stars who have their bodies inked for life is Kapuso actor Mark Herras, who had his first tattoo done when his grandmother died. It wasn’t the last.


Herras proudly showed off his many colorful the tattoos in a 15-second video he posted on Instagram recently. Among his tattoos is the name “Dolores,” as with “Santos,” and the phrases, “UNO,” “One Chance,” “One Life,” and “One Dream.” He also sports tattoos of several Chinese characters and some geometric patterns.

Another is singer Charice. Her first tattoo, as displayed on her left forearm reads, “Love Eternally.” It comes with an infinity sign, which is supposed to signify her love for her family and friends. She also has the words “Let’s start with forever,” tattooed on her chest as a dedication of sorts to girlfriend Alyssa Quijano.


Meanwhile, actor Vandolph Quizon followed the lead of other Quizon family members, when he had a portrait of his father Dolphy done on his arm upon the latter’s death.

“It’s Showtime” mainstay Vice Ganda has a tattoo of a red star on his right wrist, a rosary around his right arm and, four playing cards on the knuckles of his right hand. Another star on his neck signifies a big career milestone.


Lovi Poe got her first set of tattoos, the phrases “My Wings” and “My Gravity,” during the first death anniversary of her father, the King of Philippine Cinema Fernando Poe, Jr. She has a new tattoo done below her breast line that read, “Quiet Child.”

  1. No matter what others say Tatoo is ugly and deface the natural beauty of mankind. They say art, in my opinion cheap art.

    Another point, why alot of companies do not hire persons with tatoos? Simple it is a stigma.
