Aside from headlining a Kapuso Fans Day at the annual Panagbenga Festival that started over the weekend, GMA Primetime King Dingdong Dantes reached out to the students of the Loakan Elementary School also in Baguio City where he distributed at least 300 school materials.
The actor did the same in Iloilo recently and he will visit Bohol next, both projects of YesPinoy Foundation, too.
Dantes has been doing more of these than usual since he is on break after headlining the TV series “Genesis.” However, his showbiz calendar will become heavy anew by mid-March when he starts taping the series with working title “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real” co-starring Maricel Soriano and Lovi Poe.
In an interview, Dantes revealed that the series has a “modern and popular” storyline about “very real” people. He can’t discuss the details yet save to say that it caters to an untapped demographic and will likely “open debates.”
He has high hopes for the movie he is cooking up with GMA Films seeing how the Filipino moviegoer has matured even more in recent years.
“Dito sa Pilipinas, ang kinikita ng Tagalog films nitong mga huli ay pumapantay na sa ilang mga big Hollywood films. I think things are falling into place and as the audience matures, the challenge for local actors is to be effective in their roles para tangkilikin ng tao ang mga pelikula niya,” he said to that effect.
The awarded actor stressed, however, that he is more concerned about the quality of his projects than its performance at the tills.
“It’s always nice ’pag kumita but it’s great if it’s a really good project. In everything we do, kahit sino man or ano mang sitwasyon, you win some, you lose some. In the end, it is what you have done and what you have become that matter most.”
It’s important to Dantes that his works impart the right message.
“Always a right message kasi yan din ang thrust ng GMA-7, na may value na nakukuha ang audience, ’di lang puro entertainment.”
Apart from the TV series and the movie under GMA Films, Dantes is working on the follow-up to the highly acclaimed “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.”
