Going, going, gone

More showbiz followers seem to be asking if they will ever see the day that a positive article will be written about Egotistic Celebrity (EC), whose peg remains to be that of an “assuming” person.

From the time she hit big time, EC has projected an entirely different façade apart from her on-cam persona. Many fans of EC turn into harsh critics after they personally encounter her and see who she is in real life.

It was November last year when Former EC Fanatic (FF) and her family saw EC standing near the stairs at the sixth floor of an upscale mall in the metro. By the looks of it, EC seemed to have been shopping.

FF didn’t notice EC in the beginning, as she was wearing shades, leggings, long top and with pulled up hair. FF and company would have wanted to approach EC, but was discouraged as EC had a very intimidating look about her, perhaps her way to ward off much-hated photo op seekers. Indeed, wearing such long, frowning face, with protruding pouting mouth to boot, who would dare?

When EC allegedly saw FF looking like she was torn whether to approach or not, EC hastily turned her back and proceeded straight to the parking area.

Will EC ever change? Next question, please.

Chasing Credit

Inspite of her negative image, Lucky Girl (LG) has been getting good projects. For a long time, LG’s attitude and reputation have been anything but pleasant. Showbiz followers know only too well how LG degrades and ridicules people she doesn’t like even her own relatives.

Being a big-earner, LG can afford anything her heart desires regardless of the cost. LG loves to drive cars, as in pricey imported ones which she fancies very much. It is no secret to her colleagues that LG puts in good money on the cars to make them investment-worthy.

Feeling that she can well afford a new car with her string of projects, LG applied for a bank loan – and got denied. What gives?

Insiders say that no matter the millions, income from showbiz is not stable, and will never be. No matter what a big-named celebrity you are, money lenders are just too shrewd and circumspect to bite the millions a celebrity earns. But there are also several celebrities who have good standing in financing institutions.

What made LG any different? Some kibitzers say LG’s credit history and overall personal/public reputation did her in. Did her name really pull her down? If we are to believe that banks put premium on the borrower’s reputation – the answer is yes.
