Liam Neeson is a proud fan of Manny Pacquiao, which was why he accepted the role of narrator for “Manny,” a documentary that chronicles the life story of the eight-division champion boxer-politician.
Neeson spoke fondly of Pacquiao during his recent appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“What a boxer he is. He’s one of the greatest (boxers),” the “Taken” star said.
“You’re a fan of his, I guess,” said show host Jimmy Kimmel.
Neeson retorted, “I have been (a fan) for many, many years.”
The Academy Award nominee then shared a “fan moment.”
“After I narrated our film, the producers sent me a little e-mail, a little film footage of Manny saying into cam (mimics Pacquiao), ‘Hello Liam, I look forward to meeting you.’
He proudly said, “(And) I’m showing it to everybody.”
“He’s (a) fantastic boxer (and that is what made me accept the narrating gig),” revealed Neeson.
Kimmel, who also participated in “Manny,” is thrilled to become “co-stars” with Neeson.
“You were the narrator and I’m just talking for like five seconds in it but I feel like we’re co-stars,” Kimmel said in jest.
“Manny,” directed by Academy Award-winner Leon Gast (“When We Were Kings”) and Fil-Am Ryan Moore, hits Philippine theaters on March 12.
It will premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas, which will run from March 7 to 15.
