One month after giving birth to their first child, businesswoman Sherryl Ann Reyes, wife of actor and former dancer Wowie de Guzman died last Saturday, April 26, shortly after taking a muscle pain reliever. She was 26 years old.
A still distraught Wowie told ABS-CBN News (link: http://ift.tt/QY9MlE) that he still did not know the cause of his wife’s sudden death.\
Tinry kong i-mouth-to-mouth. Kaya lang, wala talaga, eh,” he recalled.
Sheryl was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors tried to revive her for three hours, according to actress-host Gladys Reyes, a close friend and former co-star of Wowie on the 1990s soap opera “Mara Clara”.
As far as his wife’s medical history, Wowie said Sheryl’s blood pressure had been fluctuating during her pregnancy and that she had also trouble walking due to what he thought was rheumatism. Doctors had advised her not to breastfeed their newborn daughter, named Alex Rafael.
Born Jeffrey Camangyan, Wowie started his career as a member of the popular dance group Universal Motion Dancers who even starred in their own musical film “Sige, Ihataw Mo” in 1992.
He got his first big break as an actor the following year when he was cast opposite Judy Ann Santos in “Mara Clara”. His love team with Judy Ann was huge with fans for much of the decade as they starred together in several teleseryes and films.
Wowie’s popularity, however, declined after the breakup of their loveteam as projects became few and far between after 2001. But after being cast in the ABS-CBN teleserye “Rubi” in 2010, Wowie became more active again in showbiz. Now 37, he was last seen on the afternoon soap “Little Champ” last year.
Wowie married Sheryl Ann in civil rites in 2012 and in church last year.
