Twenty-five-year-old Yasmien Kurdi-Soldevilla will have a bit of a rest after her primetime series “Rhodora X” ends this May.
The actress-singer will undergo surgery to remove a cyst in her throat.
It was discovered by her docotrs last January after she complained about a seeming lump in her throat.
Yasmien wanted to have it removed earlier but her taping schedules for “Rhodora X” prevented her from doing so.
She related that she wouldn’t be allowed to speak or use her voice in any way after surgery.
She recalled that when her doctor told her about the cyst, it didn’t sink in immediately.
“At first I was okay. Pag-uwi ko sa bahay doon na ako humagulgol. Iniisip ko kung babalik pa ba boses ko? So na-depress ako ng mga three days siguro. Good thing my baby was there to cheer me up,” Yasmien related.
She didn’t let her ailment affect her personal life and work.
“Hindi naman pwedeng magpaka-lungkot ako dahil meron akong ganito. Hindi pwedeng magmukmok ako at mamroblema tungkol sa cyst ko,” she shared. “Think positive lang.”
Supposedly, after she recuperated, GMA has a new project line-up for her – a remake of “Mga Batang Yagit.”
“Hindi ko pa po alam pero I guess maganda kasi pinipilit nila sa akin ‘yung role. Pero kahit anong role okay lang,” expressed Yasmien.
Given a chance, she would like to play a character far from the usual “victim” roles or protagonist. She wouldn’t mind doing a “kontrabida role” too because that will help her become a versatile actress.
But what is Yasmien’s dream role?
“I want a role with social relevance. Gusto kong tumatak din ‘yung role. Pero para sa akin kahit anong role basta maganda ang story and concept I guess walang problema,” replied Yasmien.
Whatever lies ahead, Yasmien will draw strength from her baby.
“Masayang masaya ako sa baby ko kasi nabibigyan niya ako ng lakas in everything I do. Kahit minsan hinang-hina na ‘yung feeling ko, nabibigyan ako ng lakas kapag nakikita ko siya,” Yasmien concluded.
