Rhian Ramos skipped “cycles” before doing another soap opera.
Her last was “Genesis” which ended in December 2013. After a short break, she found herself raring to take on another TV job. Luckily, her so-called second cycle was a dream come true.
In GMA-7’s “My Destiny” that premieres on June 30 after “Niño,” Rhian portrays a woman afflicted with leukemia.
Rhian said the role is a big challenge as it veers from the usual portrayals that she has been accustomed to in the past.
“I have been asking for this role for a long time, something where I would be deglamorized. I’d look really very different in the middle of the show,” she revealed.
Part of her preparation is consistently discussing her character with director Joyce Bernal are her acting coach.
“You have to dig deep because there are really some things that you’re never going to find in the script. And I’m also preparing myself physically because I want to make some physical changes to suit the role.”
“My Destiny” also stars Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez with Sid Lucero and Lorna Tolentino as Rhian’s mother.

JILLIAN, MONA LOUISE NOT BEST FRIENDS?
In the upcoming “My BFF,” another GMA-7 original drama series about friendship and family, Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey play best friends. But both admit they are not even close in real life.
At the recent press launch of the show, Jillian said she and Mona Louise don’t even share the same dressing room. Mona Louise, on the other hand, said she is chummier with co-stars of her age.
But of course, when in front of the cameras, the girls are professional enough to do what they have to do – deliver a great performance.
Joining the young stars on “My BFF” are Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs, a popular love team in the ’80s who are working together for the first time in a drama series on Philippine TV.
Manilyn said she is happy that her reunion project with Janno is fit for the whole family.
Directed by Roderick Lindayag, “My BFF” premieres on June 30 before “24 Oras.”
