TV host-actress Kris Aquino has broken her silence over Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista’s “Bandila” interview wherein he said “no” when asked if he wants to get back with her.
“Ironic nga na siya naman ‘yung unang nagsalita when ako ‘yung expected ng lahat na mag-over share. I did keep quiet for one very human reason; I got hurt for that very same reason because I truly loved him,” she said on “The Buzz” Sunday.
Prior to his public statement about them, Bautista, according to Aquino, promised that he will work on their relationship after fixing some things first.
“When he tells you na babalik siya ‘pag naayos na ang lahat ng kailangan niyang ayusin – starting with fixing himself – because mahal mo siya, aasa ka and everyday magdarasal ka: ‘Sana God, it’s part of Your will that we will be together in the future…’
“Tapos iyon, isang gabi makakanood ka sa ‘Bandila’ and you hear him answer about you… and it wakes you up to the reality na wala pala talagang somewhere down the road para sa inyo.
“And you can’t stop crying because ‘yung future na inakala mo, ‘yung pinagdarasal mo, the future that kept you going, that dream it just disappears,” she said.
Aquino said she tried to look at it from Bautista’s perspective.
“You understand parental love because you love your sons so much too. And you hide that heartbreak, and you just cry yourself sleep every night – magsisigurado ka na ‘yung dalawang anak mo na nagse-share ng kuwarto mo, tulog na para hindi nila makitang umiiyak ka.”
She forgave Bautista after he personally apologized to her seven-year-old son, Bimby, for having hurt her.
“You forgive dahil kahit sinaktan ka, mahal na mahal mo pa rin siya at kahit papano humanga ka sa kanya,” she said.
Despite the heartbreak, Aquino remains “grateful” for having Bautista in her life even if for while. She said that her ex’s purpose in her life is to teach her about “true humility.”
“Kinailangan ko kasi talagang maramdaman kung ano ‘yung feeling na iwanan ka, ayawan ka – masakit ‘yun ah. Masakit talagang ipa-mukha sa buong mundo na kahit mahal na mahal mo ‘yung tao, sa isang live interview, aamin siya na ayaw na niya sayo, hindi ka niya babalikan – tatanggapin mo ‘yon,” said she.
The TV host waxed poetic on the lessons she learned from it all.
“I have to learn that love endures, love forgives, love can actually be quiet, and selfless. It doesn’t blame no matter how much you’re hurting. Love doesn’t look for revenge. Love has no regrets…” she said.
“True love graciously lets go.”
