MICA, composed of the Gollayan sisters from Santiago City, Isabela, still has a chance to win the grand plum in the the Korean TV talent search show “Superstar K6.”
The group was eliminated during the show’s collaboration mission where they were made to perform with fellow contestant Kim Hyeon Mi.
According to the judges, the group as with Kim failed to mesh well, inasmuch as their rendition of Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There,” lacked harmony.
In a surprise twist, however, the show judges allowed the Gollayan sisters to continue to compete in the rival mission where MICA were made to perform with Korean group Double TOV singing Ailee’s “Heaven.”
Show judge Lee Sung Chul was impressed with MICA’s performance, going on to tell them that he would have hired them as backup singers even if they didn’t make it to “Superstar K6.”
In the end, the rest of the judges chose MICA over Double TOV.
“Thank you Superstar K,” MICA said.
Before competing in “Superstar K6,” the Gollayan sisters won as Senior Grand Champion, Vocal Group of the World Category of the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood, California last year.
