In a spectacular display of fireworks, a 3D mapping show and first-rate entertainment, TV5’s biggest stars and special guests ended an eventful 2014 and welcomed 2015 on a very upbeat mode with “Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown” at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

A joint endeavor of the Quezon City Government and the MVP Group of Companies, the New Year’s Eve festivities was opened to the public as early as 10AM Wednesday featuring booths from sponsors like PLDT and Smart and highlighted by the Happy Network’s first ever “on the spot” talent search that attracted thousands of hopefuls.

By late evening or about an hour before the start of the New Year Countdown, the formal program began with a star-studded musical number led by Ogie Alcasid, Tuesday Vargas and DJ and former child star Tom Taus.

Following the number Ogie and Tuesday were joined by Alice Dixson and Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actor Derek Ramsay to host the event as an estimated crowd of over 20,000 were treated to more entertainment fare.

Highlights included the well-received performance of “Trenderas” stars Isabelle de Leon and Katrina Velarde with the vocal group AKA Jam.

Dancer Gab Valenciano, son of Mr. Pure Energy himself Gary Valenciano, displayed the form that made him a phenomenal YouTube sensation in 2013 as he and the Philippine All-Stars literally owned the stage in a show-stopping number.

Not to be outdone, beatboxer and Talentadong Pinoy 2014 Ultimate Talentado Neil also dazzled the crowd with his multi-voiced prowess in another thrilling presentation obviously inspired by his musical hero, Michael Jackson.

In a medley of popular show tunes including “Tomorrow” from “Annie”, Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma delivered another classy performance further enhanced by aerial dancer Mystiq, another Talentadong Pinoy 2014 Hall of Famer.

And “Kanta Pilipinas” grand champion Chadleen also performed a medley of the popular “Wattpad Presents” theme songs she had recorded.

Also in attendance were other TV5 stars like Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Ritz Azul, Carl Guevarra, comedian Empoy Marquez and “Artista Academy” graduates Marvelous Alejo, Akihiro Blanco, Mark Neumann, Brent Manzano, Chris Leonardo and Alberto Bruno.

As the network stars also took the opportunity to promote some of TV5’s new shows for 2015, also seen in attendance at the New Year Countdown were MVP Group of Companies chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, TV5 president and chief executive officer Noel C. Lorenzana and other network executives.

Top executives of the MVP Group, including Smart’s Napoleon Nazareno, Maynilad’s Ricky Vargas, Metro Pacific’s Ramoncito Fernandez and MVP himself, delivered their New Year’s message to the public.

Speaking in behalf of the MVP group, Pangilinan expressed his gratitude to the Quezon City government led by Mayor Herbert Bautista for the staging of TV5’s first ever New Year countdown show which may be an annual affair from hereon. MVP said their wish for 2015 was simple: to deliver happiness in every home.

MVP’s upbeat tone is very much reflected on the new programming thrust of TV5 for 2015 which intends to shun the negative and instead places emphasis on everything positive.
