Bosom buddies Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez will host the maiden season of AXN’s “Asia’s Got Talent” that premieres this March.

Individually, Marc and Rovillson are accomplished hosts in their own right — in the Philippines. But they became popular around the region as teammates in the 2007 season of the popular reality show “The Amazing Race Asia” (also aired on AXN) where as perennial frontrunners they ultimately placed third but won the most number of pit stops.

“As competitors on ‘The Amazing Race Asia,’ Marc and Rovilson captivated viewers with their on-screen charisma. We saw them as a natural fit to host a show like ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ and are proud to have them back on AXN,” remarked Hui Keng Ang, senior vice president and general manager, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia.

This is not the duo’s first time to host a show on AXN. In 2009, they hosted a talk show cum lifestyle magazine show for men called “The Duke”, with Miss Singapore-Universe 2000 Eunice Olsen.

On “Asia’s Got Talent”, Marc and Rovilson will work alongside a formidable panel of celebrity judges composed of Grammy award-winning songwriter and record producer David Foster, former Spice Girls member Melanie C., Indonesian rock star Anggun, and Taiwanese sensation Vaness Wu of “Meteor Garden” fame.

Currently co-hosting ABS-CBN’s long-running magazine show “Sports Unlimited” with Dyan Castillejo, Marc said he’s thrilled to be part of the show he describes as “the biggest talent show in the world.”

“We just wrapped judges auditions and they were awesome! So privileged to be working alongside our amazing judges Melanie C, Van Ness Wu, Anggun and David Foster. It’s going to be epic!” Marc said in a recent post in Instagram.

For his part, Rovilson is also “humbled to play a part in this great search for talent across our region.”

“With Marc, we will do our best to bring our amazing experience on ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ to AXN viewers,” the current host of GMA News TV’s “Ang Pinaka” said in a statement.

Launched last September, “Asia’s Got Talent” is part of the recent expansion of Simon Cowell’s “Got Talent” franchise that began with “Britain’s Got Talent”. That month, the Asian edition of the show presented by Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, AXN and Fremantle Media held open auditions in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Among those who participated in the Manila auditions held at the SMX Convention Center was Rodfil Obeso of the novelty duo Moymoy Palaboy.
