Policeman officer 2 Mariano Flormata, Jr., known to some as the model Neil Perez, is bound for Seoul, South Korea on Monday to compete at this year’s Mister International tilt.
A bomb and explosives technician assigned to the Philippine National Police’s Aviation and Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) unit, Neil is dedicating his pageant bid to the 43 members of the Special Action Force (SAF) killed during a clash in Maguindanao recently.
Though nervous over the competition, Neil promised to do his best.
“Pinapangako ko po na dadalhin ko po ang korona, ang titulo dito sa bansa,” he told “TV Patrol” in an interview.
Neil, who first gained notice last September when he was crowned Mister International Philippines, divulged how some of those slain were his batchmates in Batch Mabalasig.
Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas told the media in a recent press conference that the massacre, which resulted from a clash with a rebel group, is “the single largest loss of life in recent memory.”
The Mister International competition is slated on Feb. 12 at the WAPOP Hall in the South Korean capital.
