Great singers aren’t the only ones catching the eye of international media.
Self-confessed non-singer Anne Curtis took to Twitter recently to thank Australia’s Nine News for featuring her performance of Sia’s “Chandelier” on its website.
“Who would’ve thought my croaky voice would get a feature! Hahahah,” Anne posted on Friday.
The foreign news outlet described Anne’s rendition as “spectacularly weird,” adding, “What she lacked in accuracy in hitting notes she made up for with passion.”
Aside from a detailed description of the performance, the feature also quoted reactions from discussion board-based news and entertainment website Reddit, which had the video performance filed under the “crappy music” category.
“Wow, I’m so glad I didn’t switch it off early. That was incredible,” said one.
“Oh my god, it just keeps getting worse and worse in the best way,” another commented.
“Almost everyone in the comments is saying something positive about her. It’s surreal,” yet another kibitzer posted.
“Lost voice or not the show must go on – not that it really makes a big difference anyway. Haha! My voice really does get worse and worse BUT It’s all in the name of FUN and giggles,” she posted, along with a link to the online article.
“Is she trying to ruin it on purpose? This has got to be some sort of joke,” another added.
This other joke comes with a tongue-in-cheek warning: “My dog heard this, started to bark, started to whine, began to bleed from eyes, nose & mouth. Dog died from listening to this. Do not play for children. Many deaths will occur.”
Still, Anne, is far from being dejected.
Those who want to hear more of the same are in for a treat, with Anne reportedly releasing a new album soon. It will be her third, following “Annebisyosa” in 2011, and “The Forbidden Album” last year.
Anne-believable, indeed
