American rock icon Alice Cooper, apparently impressed with Jay-R’s impersonation of him in a reality-based show, posted a tweet which encourages his followers to check out the Pinoy R&B singer’s performance.
“Check out Jay R channeling his inner Alice Cooper on the Manila show @yourfacesounds! #AliceCooper,” Alice tweeted, even sharing the link to Jay-R’s performance on “Your Face Sounds Familiar”.
Jay-R is not new to praises. His impersonation of Pepe Smith in the pilot episode had him bagging the top score. He scored another major win when he mimicked Kenny Rogers and sang opposite Karla Estrada (as Dolly Parton) in a duet of “Islands In The Stream.”
Jay-R’s recent impersonation of Alice Cooper has cemented his awesome performance as the rock icon himself tweeted about it.
“So far, my experience in ‘Your Face’ has been outstanding. I’ve learned a lot of things. It’s hard. I’m not used to it, but I have to really study it. From studying it, I feel I’m growing as an artist because I’m learning different genres. It feels like adding more ammunition for my arsenal,” he said in a recent interview.
“I feel very flattered. For me, I feel like my hard work is being recognized. The feedback has been very positive not only from the jury but also from the fans,” he added.
Jay-R’s notable impersonations were as Bamboo singing “Noypi,” and Stevie Wonder singing “I Just Called To Say I Love You.”
