Karylle has been married to Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon for some time now but unlike women who let themselves go once they settle into matrimonial bliss, the singer-actress is as radiant as ever, if not more.
Sisters Robina and Roseann Ko – owners of Status Hair Salon—reveals one of Karylle’s secrets.
“She goes na as much as she can sa amin. Sabi niya kasi dapat mas may time and effort siya magpaganda ngayon,” Roseann said.
Her sister revealed that Karylle often drops by to get hair treatment, from cut to color.
“’Yung hair ni Karylle, natural ‘yung pagka-curly,” Robina added. “Madalas siyang nagpapaayos sa amin kapag may show siya. We advise her na magpa-treatment at least once a week,” Robina said.
The two have formed a bond with Karylle, who happens to be their salon’s first-ever celebrity endorser. Robina and Roseann said the star Karylle is fun to be with and they always end up having nice conversations.
“We sort of fell in love with her,” they said.
Being endorser, it helps that Karylle is visible and influential on social media.
“Si Karylle kasi ’pag nag-post about sa salon namin, 2,000 likes na agad,” Robina said. “Dati kasi hindi kami gumagamit ng artista as endorser eh, usually mga fashion bloggers. So du’n namin nakita ’yung difference (when Karylle stepped into the picture).”
The singer-actress has 2 million and 795,000 followers on Twitter and Instagram, respectively. She has had at least 265,000 likes on Facebook.
Edge over the rest
Status Hair Salon boasts of a wide range of services including waxing, hair and makeup, keratin treatment, highlights, digital perm and hair and scalp treatment.
“When we created the salon inisip namin kasi kung paano magfi-fit sa lifestyle dito sa atin. So we decided to create a salon na pagpunta mo eh, halos nandu’n na lahat. Para isang gawa na lang,” Robina explained.
More, key members of their staff were trained abroad. “We train them (employees) in Hongkong and Malaysia. And then sila ’yung magte-training nu’ng mga tao dito,” Robina said.
The Ko sisters intend to continue improving their services by coming up with innovative and affordable salon packages that fit the Filipino lifestyle.
Who goes there?
Robina maintained that their salon does not cater to women only.
“I think ’yung mga guys ngayon mas gusto na nila sa salons kasi they love the haircut (more). Actually sa branches namin mas marami na ang nagpapagawa na guys,” she said.
She said they have different market per store. In their Katipunan branch, they have student customers, while in Eastwood, most customers are moms.
“We check the market kung ano ang hinahanap nila. We are very flexible naman sa change eh, ’di kami natatakot na mag-try para sa customers,” she said.
Status Hair Salon is open to franchising.
“P500, 000 may store ka na and it’s already built. It’s not just the franchise fee, it’s basically the total store,” Robina said. “The return of investments would be one year to two years.”
Asked why their franchising fee is lower than most, Robina answered, “Gusto kasi namin makatulong sa iba.”
Status Hair Salon also has branches in Robinsons Galleria, Connecticut Greenhills and Tomas Morato.
