Miss World’s charity organization, Beauty With A Purpose, has scheduled a series of fundraising events in the US for the victims of super typhoon “Yolanda.”
On its website, Beauty With A Purpose announced their decision “to direct all of its fundraising efforts into supporting the people of the Philippines,” after the country, particularly the Visayas area, was ravaged by the said “second deadliest Philippine typhoon on record.”
On Nov. 19, Megan, together with Philippine Consul General Hon. Mario Lopez de Leon Jr., will be hosting a special evening for prominent members of the Filipino community in New York.
The next day, attendees are given the chance to make their donations in a fundraising event at the Double Tree by Hilton in Newark, New Jersey.
The third event, which will coincide with the official announcement of the co-operation between Beauty With A Purpose and the Filipino Official Delegation in the United States, will feature an auction of some of Megan’s dresses during her journey to the Miss World crown – her National Costume, homecoming dress, and coronation gown. This will take place at the Beverly Hills Country Club on Nov. 21.
Megan will then return to the Philippines on Nov. 27 to deliver all the funds raised in the US; followed by her visit to the typhoon and earthquake victims at their evacuation centers in Tacloban City and Coron, Palawan on Nov. 28 and 29.
‘You’re not alone’
Meanwhile, Fil-Am “Glee” star Darren Criss has also joined the call for help.
On his official website, Darren urged his fans and followers to donate $25 to the World Food Programme that “will help bring more than 100 emergency meals to those in need.”
Donors in turn will receive an autographed postcard “with everyone’s name who donates,” which says “You’re not alone,” after they email a picture or screenshot of their donation transaction to dcnotalone@gmail.com.
