Ai Ai delas Alas has finally bitten the bullet, so to speak, and signed up for her first independent film.

Obviously elated that she finally got her chance to star in an indie – traditionally known as an anthithesis to expensive blockbusters, a few of which she’s done before – she took to Instagram to share with fans her excitement over the project titled “Ronda.”

“FIRST SHOOTING DAY ‘RONDA’.. i am so excited .. firstime ko makaka experience ng indie film .. yahoo art art naman to..#panginternationalchenes #aktingannato #cinemalaya.. aiaidelasalas,” read the caption of her selfie she posted on Sunday.

The movie is being eyed as an entry to this year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival under the New Breed category.

Ai Ai also posted another photo that showed her in full uniform.

“Pwede pala kong pulis.. hehe.. 1st day RONDA #cinemalaya,” she wrote.

The 49-year-old actress, who has declared her intention to run for public office someday, told Bulletin Entertainment in a previous interview that she will also do a film for Star Cinema, slated for release this October.

At a recent press conference for her endorsement, Ai Ai said that she would not be starring in any Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry this year.

Ai Ai is currently busy playing a mermaid on ABS-CBN’s primetime series “Dyesebel.”

This year’s Cinemalaya will run from Aug. 1 to 10 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Greenbelt 3, TriNoma and Alabang Town Center.
