Concert promoter Music Management International (MMI Live) head Rhiza Pascua announced via Twitter, midday Sunday, that One Direction is confirmed for a second show in Manila.
With the warning, “Directioners, please don’t buy from scalpers,” Pascua’s tweet also read, “Buy tickets for 2nd show @smtickets. March 22, 2015!!!”
Ovation Productions, MMI Live’s partner for the One Direction show, retweeted the message.
The group’s official Philippine street team also posted a message for all its Twitter followers: “It’s confirmed, Directioners! A second show for the One Direction concert in Manila will be held on March 22, 2015!!”
On Saturday, Ovation’s Renen de Guia spoke to Bulletin Entertainment to say that, because of the clamor, “the producers decided to request for a second show… from One Direction’s management…”
Friday’s launch party for the group’s followers attracted such a huge turn out of One Direction fans that the limited number of VIP tickets for the March 21, 2015 show sold out in a matter of hours.
In fact, de Guia even noted that they agreed to extend the selling past 2 p.m. because “fans were still lining up for tickets.”
While elated fans that scored tickets broke into tears of joy, those who were not so lucky also wept for the missed opportunity. By Saturday, “#MANILAWANTS2NDSHOW” was among the top trending topics in the country.
ABS-CBN entertainment reporter Ginger Conejero also tweeted on Sunday that “ticket sales date will take place this week!!!!”
She also posted another tweet that said, “to better accommodate fans outside MNL, next round of tix sales will take place ONLINE.”
While all this information has been going around online, it will still be best for those still on the market for tickets to wait for the official announcement, as de Guia urged on Saturday.
The street team likewise advised earlier via Twitter (1D Street Team PH) that, “There is no exact date yet for the selling of the tickets for the second show. Make sure to follow @itsarpee and @mmilive for details soon!”
One Direction will be performing in Manila for the first time, bringing to our soil their “On the Road Again Tour 2015.” This is the fourth headlining tour of the English-Irish boy band, and it will see them in major cities around the world next year from Australia to Japan in February 2015. March will take them to Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Indonesia.
