Remember Lilet?

Lilet hit it big in the ‘90s with the songs “Kahit Bata Pa,” “Kay Palad Mo” and “Hangang-Hanga” then just like that, she disappeared from radar.

But as they say, once a musician, always a musician. She was seen recently in the A Song Of Praise songwriting festival not as singer, but as composer behind “You Are Lord Of All.”

Naturally, the first thing that Bulletin Entertainment wanted to find out is what her fans have been asking themselves all these years: Where did she go?

Tapos I got married at meron na akong six-year-old daughter. Sa church, I sing sa worship service. Minsan, may mga kakilala na nag-invite ‘Uy, pwede ka ba sa ganito (na event),’ at ‘pag hindi naman nakakaistorbo sa pagiging nanay ko, go,” said she, who still look youthful and svelte.

She had tried to keep music from her mind until one day, “parang ‘yung heart ko, it was overflowing.”

Binibigyan pa nga niya ako ng mga songs to write about Him, and yet nakatago lang sa baul. So I said, ‘Lord, bakit ganon?’ Nagpray ako then I said ‘Okay, Lord, it’s still up to you.

A few minutes later, she received a text message from ASOP organizer asking if she wants to be a judge on the show. Apparently, even God answers prayers digitally sometimes.

“Sabi ko, ‘Eto na ba yon, Lord?’ Kasi mga two years ago, nakanood ako ng isang episode ng ASOP kaso ‘di ako makasali-sali kasi naka-focus ako sa anak ko. So sabi ko, ‘Eto na yata yun (sagot na inantay ko),” Lilet said.

She replied to the message not to accept the offer but to inquire if she could instead enter a song. The rest is history.

“Mas confident ako as a singer kasi I’ve been doing that since I was a little girl. Yung songwriting, tingin ko sa sarili ko newbie,” she said of her other talent. “I wrote ‘You Are Lord Of All’ last year when somebody close to me ay may pinagdadaanan sa buhay niya.

“Tapos one day, the Lord spoke to my heart. ‘If you can’t say it, sing it.’ So, kinuha ko yung phone, iniwan kong nakarecord tapos habang umiiyak ako, lumabas yung first lines ng kanta.”

Asked when she was last seen on TV prior to ASOP, Lilet said it was as contestant on “Singing Bee” last May. From there, she was signed to do an upcoming teleserye.

I’m just floating towards kung saan man yon.”

Talks are underway for Lilet to record a new album but if it prospers, she’s thinking worship songs more than pop tunes.

Yung mga songs ko, may pagka contemporary yung flavor,” she said.

Any chance she’ll sing her past hits one of these days?

“Haha!
