Trial for the grave coercion case filed by TV host-actor Vhong Navarro against Cedric Lee, Simeon Raz, Deniece Cornejo and several others will now proceed.
The opposing camps have failed to reach an agreement following a closed-door session for judicial dispute resolution (JDR) at the Taguig City Hall of Justice yesterday.
Navarro is determined to pursue the charges, while Lee is convinced that he can defend himself.
While the court did not issue a hold departure order against him, Lee made clear that he has no plans to leave the country.
Noting that his passport is already expired, he added, “Bakit ako kailangang umatras?”
Lee, along with Raz and Cornejo, also stand accused of serious illegal detention. They were recently released after having been granted the chance to post pail amounting to P500, 000 each by Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes.
Cortes has since inhibited herself from the case.
Meanwhile, Atty. Alma Mallonga, legal counsel of Navarro, disclosed yesterday that the rape complaint filed in February by Roxanne CabaƱero against the TV host-actor has already been dismissed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
According to the resolution dated Sept. 8, CabaƱero’s allegations that she was raped by Navarro in April 2010 are contradictory, suspicious and doubtful.
No settlement between Vhong and Cedric, et al.
