Comedienne Tia Pusit succumbed Thursday to complications relating to a recent operation. She was 66.


It was her sister, actress Nova Villa, who confirmed her passing to > ABS-CBN News, relating how Tiya Pusit suffered a series of medical complications after undergoing bypass operation at the Philippine Heart Center last Sept. 9 for aortic aneurysm.


In a statement released to media, the comedienne’s son, Christian Uybengke, related how her mom’s condition worsened in the past weeks.


“She has 2 episodes of stroke, blood clots with little brain activity. Worst her kidney too is failing rapidly,” read part of his statement.


Christian and the rest of his siblings are now seeking help for the medical expenses their mother incurred, reportedly amounting to P1.4 million.


Family friends led by comedian Inday Garutay, have organized a benefit concert to be held on Oct. 5 at a comedy bar in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, to help raise the amount.


Born Myrna Villanueva, Tiya Pusit courted controversy some years ago when she divulged to media her relationship with a 27-year-old. The relationship ended last year.


She was last seen on the drama series “Ikaw Lamang” as the nanny of Kim Chiu’s character.
