Andre Camille Bonifacio and Ryan Ancheta’s dream to showcase their talent on “Ellen DeGeneres Show” has come true.
The Filipino-Canadian hip-hop duo, popularly known as Lucky Aces, was invited on the show by host Ellen, who attested to have been “blown away” by the duo’s video on YouTube.
In a video clip posted on the popular program’s official website, Andre Camille and Ryan are seen dancing to DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What.”
After their performance, Ellen asked them for the meaning behind their name.
Lucky was apparently derived from Ancheta’s nickname.
“I was born premature, and I almost didn’t make it,” he said. “My parents said they were lucky to have me.”
The Aces on the other hand, refers to AC’s nickname.
Ellen surprised the duo with VIP tickets to Ariana Grande’s upcoming Vancouver show after learning both were fans of the American singer.
Andre Camille and Ryan expressed willingness to open for Ariana if and when they are asked to do so.
“If she wants us to, then, of course, I would take that opportunity,” Ryan said.
In a separate interview with ABS-CBN North America News Bureau’s Marieton Pacheco, Andre Camille related how happy she is to have been able to perform on “Ellen.”
“When me and Lucky started dancing, we did it to inspire other people and make other people happy and we’ve accomplished so much since then,” she said.
For his part, Ancheta said, “AC and I had fun in LA. Ellen’s such a nice person. She’s generous and it was really fun performing there.”
Since their stint on “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” AC and Ryan have been appearing on different TV shows in Vancouver. Their parents couldn’t be prouder.
“I always tell him to stay humble, never forget where you came from and work hard cause you never know, sky’s the limit for the both of them,” said Ryan’s father, Ronald.
In a biography posted on their official site, Andre Camille and Ryan were said to have been dancing for years as part of a local group called Fresh 2.0.
Andre Camille started dancing at two years old, while Ryan was showcasing grooves as soon as he could walk.
”They really work hard. Those two put in a lot of hours here at the studio. They’re here almost everyday. It’s second home to them,” said Fresh Groove Productions director, Cezar Tantoco.
