Any woman who suffers miscarriage bears great emotional pain, especially one who’s been longing for a child for some time.

Actress-TV host Mariel Rodriguez, who’s been married to action star Robin Padilla since 2010, lost her eight-week baby last month. It was a sad moment for the 30-year-old that made her say “para akong mababaliw.”

An excited would-be first-time mom, she had already bought clothes for the baby that wasn’t meant to be.

Still, the resilient Mariel has seemingly bounced back from the unfortunate experience. During a recent meeting with the press, she related choosing not to despair. Hard as it was for her, she is slowly moving on by focusing on being a dutiful wife.

In the commercial of her new show “Happy Wife, Happy Life,” Mariel says it has always been her dream to be a housewife. She describes it as the “ultimate” thing a woman should aspire for.

The commercial also showed portions of the home she shares with Robin, with Mariel pointing out she personally maintains everything.

“Si Robin kasi super malinis ’yan na tao. So kapag may nakita siyang dumi, for me, kakulangan ’yun on my part,” she says.

On maintaining a healthy relationship, Mariel believes a wife should be submissive to her husband.

To underscore this, Mariel, a Catholic, told the press how she is already on her third year of abstinence from pork because Robin, a Muslim, cannot kiss someone who does so.

“Ako po talaga ’yung naga-adjust kay Robin. So I think that works for us. In our marriage, whatever he wants, ’yun ang nasusunod talaga. Kasi bilang babae, bilang asawa, kailangan mo talagang sumuko at magbigay sa asawa mo,” Mariel shares.

Mariel considers “Happy Wife, Happy Life” her “new baby,” deeming it a blessing from God to help her recover from the pain of losing a child.

“(This show) came very timely. Ganito ako kamahal ni God kasi ayaw ni God na matagal akong mag-dwell du’n sa pinagdadaanan ko. Gusto niya agad na makapag-move on na ako so he gave me this project,” Mariel claims. “It really helped me a lot. This show, parang binigyan niya ako uli ng sigla. So I’m really grateful.”

Mariel replaced former hosts RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer were let go by TV5 after a controversial prank video showing them seemingly harassing a commuter went viral.

“Hindi talaga tino-tolerate ng TV5 ’yung mga misdemeanors na ganu’n, especially that housewives po sila. They should set good examples to mothers out there. Naging strict po ang TV5 ’pag dating sa pagi-implement ng mga ganu’ng bagay,” Marge Natividad, business unit head of “Happy Wife, Happy Life,” discloses.

The show’s other hosts, Danica Sotto and LJ Moreno, are still part of the program.

Robin is giving his wife all-out support. In fact, he has been promoting her new TV project on his Instagram account.

In one lengthy post, he thanked God for allowing his wife the opportunity.

“…tunay po na ang inyong (God) kapangyarihan at pag aaruga ang naging lunas sa kanyang (Mariel) matinding kalungkutan na pinagdaanan, Ang kagyat po na pagka abala ni @marieltpadilla sa bago niyang programa ang naging hudyat upang siyay bumangon, magsilbing aral at muling magbigay ng kaligayahan sa mga katulad niyang babae at asawa,” read part of the post.

With her new project, Mariel looks forward to inspiring other women who, like her, have gone through loss.

There are a lot of women out there who are also trying, who are disappointed sometimes but we also have hopes. So sana magamit ko ’yun (karanasan ko) para maka-inspire sa kanila. Kasama ko sila sa journey na iyon.”

“Happy Wife, Happy Life” airs weekdays, 10 a.m. on TV5. (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
