It has been confirmed that Girls’ Generation member Yuri, 25, is dating 32-year-old Hanshin Tigers pitcher Oh Seung Hwan.
SM Entertainment confirmed their relationship after Korean media posted today photos and reports of them together on dates.
“Yuri and Oh Seung Hwan met at at a gathering with acquaintances at the end of 2014. They are getting to know each other with good feelings,” SM Entertainment was quoted by ENewsWorld as saying.
Ilyo News said the two have been seeing each other often from November to December last year.
Photos of Yuru and Oh Seung Hwan together were published by Dispatch entertainment site.
The report said last March 4, Girls’ Generation went to Japan for the recording of their latest single “Catch Me If You Can.”
The girls returned to Korea on March 6 without Yuri, who spent five more days in Japan. Oh Seung Hwan at the time had an exhibition game in Japan.
The two were spotted watching a movie together and eating in a restaurant.
Yuri follows the footsteps of other members of Girls’ Generation who are in a relationship including Taeyeon who is dating EXO’s Baekhyun, Yoona and actor Lee Seunggi, Tiffany and 2PM’s Nichkhun, Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung-ho.
Los Angeles – It was a double treat for us when we met and interviewed the two Chris – Evans and Hemsworth – for the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise, “Avengers: Age Of Ultron.”
“Just call me Chris One and him, Chris Two,” joked Evans to which Hemsworth immediately replied, “No, it’s the other way around.”
Chris Evans, also known as Steve Rogers or Captain America in the blockbuster franchise, is the more “serious” one. Chris Hemsworth, also known as Thor in the Marvel Studios superhero film, is the more playful and loud one. Hemsworth would act out something and Evans would laugh at most of his buddy’s antics.
So why do they think audiences are getting so hooked to the franchise which is getting bigger and bigger, we asked.
“You’ve got the Sexiest Man Alive,” quipped Evans, referring to his Australian friend Hemsworth who was chosen by People Magazine in 2014 to have that title.
“You’ve got Captain America,” replied Hemsworth, referring to his American buddy Evans. He further explained, “It’s storytelling isn’t it and for all existence, we love telling stories in one form or another and this is heightened reality. It also has stories about heroes and justice and injustice and so on. This captures the imaginations of kids and adults and all of us and I included. We can’t help but are swept up in it. I certainly feel like a fan with this whole phenomenon.”
Directed by Joss Whedon, the superhero film is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers.
Asked if they felt like they have job security being part of the Marvel universe, Evans replied, “You always want to make sure. Marvel has been very good to both of us and that’s a great thing. In many ways, it has opened many doors.
“The thing about acting is, it’s a hot and cold business. Doors open, they close. So it’s the type of thing where you have to try. It’s a tricky journey to navigate, because you want to continue creating.
“We are creators. We are artists. We are people who like to perform and you want to make sure that lasts. And it’s just a matter of to each his own really, whether or not that means doing as much work as you can now or try to maybe carve new paths in other avenues. But make sure that you don’t sour or expire in the other realm where you are relevant. It’s a tricky thing.”
Hemsworth added, “Humility is what is important because it keeps you hungry. It keeps you searching and wanting to improve, advance and grow. So a little uncertainty is not a bad thing. Fear is pretty good motivation.”
So if they landed in the Philippines as an Avenger, what would they do?
“Go to a disco and eat good food,” Hemsworth replied.
“Surf. Go to the beaches definitely,” Evans retorted.
What is their routine to get that Avenger body? And do they work out together?
Evans confessed, “I used to work out together with the guys. I did that during the first Avengers but not anymore. I thought I was doing well in the gym. I work out solo now. I wish my routine was something more exciting but it’s just picking up heavy stuff and lifting them.”
Hemsworth replied, “We just pick up each other and we throw each other across the set.” (Photos by Ruben V. Nepales)
Pretty Actor (PA1) has never confirmed nor denied rumors about his sexual preference. He’s been hounded by this controversy for years now but his silence on the issue has served him well.
Unknown to the public and most of his friends, there is the regular presence of an equally Pretty Actor (PA2) in PA1’s abode. PA2 regularly drops by PA1’s house where they do stuff together, including working out at the latter’s gym. Sometimes, PA2 would even sleep over whenever he’s too drunk to drive home.
One day, the two pretty actors locked themselves up in one of the small rooms in PA1’s house. They took so long in there that the househelp got worried so she decided to check on them. Then lo and behold, the help was scandalized when she heard some strange, weird sounds coming from the room resembling that of…well, you know.
Although she only heard the sound and was not able to see what they were doing, it was enough for her to conclude that “something very fishy” was going on inside.
“I am not ashamed to be me. More than anyone else I know, I love my life and accept myself. What’s wrong with being unique? “ ~ Johnny Weir
Got something for you
Not everyone knows that being at the helm of a religious organization offers a lot of perks. Apart from the feel-good image, monetary considerations also enter the picture. Apart from their salaries, (popular) spiritual leaders get invited as resource persons to various events and/or television shows, both of which are paid appearances. More, they get to hobnob with different personalities, including their organization’s rich and famous members.
Ever since he made a complete turnaround and began leading a new life, Popular Personality (PP) has gained a number of friends within his religious group. PP became friends mostly with those within the high rank of the said group, including Charismatic Personality (CP).
One time, PP’s Wife (PW) gave CP a pricey handbag, presumably for the latter’s wife. But alas, word reached PW that the bag ended up with Controversial Star (CS). How did that happen? Hmmm, maybe ask CP’s son…

Marian Rivera is still over the moon after publicly confirming her pregnancy last Monday.
In an interview the next day, the actress said she considers having a child, her first with husband Dingdong Dantes, the biggest blessing she’ll ever receive.
“Pangarap ng bawat mag-asawa ang magkaroon ng anak. Para sa akin, kapag nag-asawa ka, ang kasunod niyan ay ang maging isang ina,” she says.
The actress recalled the moment she and Dingdong learned they’re going to be parents.
“Tulaley kami pareho,” she said. “Parang hindi nagsi-sink in sa amin (na magkaka-baby na kami). Ang bait ng Panginoon sa amin para ibigay niya ang isang buhay sa loob ng tiyan ko. Hindi na kami makapaghintay na lumabas (siya).”
Much as they understand people’s interest in her delicate condition, however, the actress wants the public to allow her some privacy at this time.
“Hindi naman kasi artista ang anak ko at para sa akin ang pagbubuntis ay isang sagradong bagay,” she explained.
Now that she’s on the family way, Marian is beginning to understand the challenges expectant mothers go through for nine months.
“Hindi pala biro ang pinagdadaan ng magiging isang ina dahil may mga mornings sickness ako. Mahirap siya. Pero kahit anong hirap, handa ako sa lahat ng sarkripisyo na ’to kung ang kapalit ay napaka-gandang anghel na mula sa langit.”
ON WITH THE SHOW
One of GMA-7’s prime talents, Marian will push through with her projects “basta hindi ako nahihirapan, hindi ako masyadong napupuyat at hindi mabibigat ’yung mga eksena ko.”
As of interview, Marian said she was working on the forthcoming drama series “The Rich Man’s Daughter.” She, nevertheless, needed to withdraw from it days later; and from “Eat Bulaga!” where she hosts the remote segment “Juan For All, All For Juan.”
“Kasi hindi ko na kakayanin,” she reasoned, disclosing further, “Tapos may niluluto pa kaming isang show sa noontime. Hindi ko alam kung kakayanin ko pa.”
Marian is one of the most favorite faces on magazine covers. She was, in fact, voted as FHM’s Sexiest Woman in 2008, 2013, and 2014.
She is thankful for these but henceforth, she can no longer walk on the runway wearing sexy attire.
“Sa kalagayan ko ngayon na may asawa na ako, parang gusto ko naman iposisyon ’yung sarili ko sa dapat at tama kong kalagyan bilang respeto na rin sa kanya.”
In terms of product endorsements, Marian has 11, including 555 Tuna for which the interview was tendered. The product has 12 “lutong-bahay” variants and a new TV commercial featuring the actress should be on the boob tube soon, if not already.
DOTING WIFE
Marian is now more focused on being a hands-on housewife. She sometimes cooks for Dingdong at home.
But when she’s not in the mood or busy with work, she prepares 555 Tuna that offers “lutong-bahay” variants.
“Madali para sa akin (kasi) maraming flavours, marami pinagpipilian. Kanin na lang ang kulang. Puwede rin sa pasta, sa bread. Puwede namang papakin lang. Malakas pa naman ako lumafang!” Marian ended, laughing. (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
Korean pop star Rain, 32, and actress Kim Tae Hee, 35, have been reported to be planning to get married this year, but both stars have denied it.
A Korean news site reported that the families of the two stars have already met to plan the wedding.
Rain and Kim Tae Hee have been in a relationship since January 2013.
Her agency denied the report.
“Kim has no plans to marry within the year. She is still dating Rain, but there are no concrete plans to wed,” it said, according to the Korea Herald.
Cube Entertainment, Rain’s agency, said there was no meeting of both families.
“Despite what has been reported, (Rain) has never had a meeting attended by the parents of both sides and has no detailed plans to marry yet,” the agency said.
Early this month, Rain sold his house in Seoul, fueling rumors that he was planning to marry the actress.
The wedding rumors started in July last year when Rain was baptized as Catholic to be in the same religion as Kim.
Andi Eigenmann once again addressed allegations that Bret Jackson is using her to further his career in show business.
At a press conference, Andi explained that Viva Artist Agency already had plans for Bret even before they were linked to each other.
“When we met, they (Viva) already have plans for our career. May movie na pero hindi pa alam kung sino ang kasama. Kaya coincidence lang na magkasama kami sa isang film,” she said, noting how they have been paired to star in the upcoming “Your Place Or Mine?”
She added, “I feel na he doesn’t deserve such issue because that is not true. And I will not lower myself naman for someone who will just use me.”
Bret maintained the accusation is baseless, noting that if he were really a user, he would associate himself with someone even more famous or one he’s known for a longer time.
On Andi’s mom, Jaclyn Jose, supposedly saying she doesn’t want anyone to use Andi for gain, he said, “I feel bad about the issue pero I understand her kasi she’s a mother…”
On good terms now
Despite the brouhaha, Andi maintained she is now okay with her mom. Recall that the two had a falling out of sorts last year.
Asked how the reconciliation happened, Andi related, “Siya lumapit sa akin tapos nag-sorry siya. Alanganan naman na hindi ko kausapin eh nanay ko. So ngayon masaya na.”
Andi said she has become more open to Jaclyn.
“Nale-layout ko na sa kanya kung saan napupunta ’yung gastusin ko. Nakakausap ko na siya about sa issues na lumalabas kasi I know na she will always be there. She knows what is best for me,” Andi said.
On the ex-BF
As for her erstwhile boyfriend Jake Ejercito, the young actress said they remain good friends.
“We’re not even trying na magkabalikan. Walang ganu’n,” she said.
Early this year, photos of Andi and Jake vacationing together in Singapore surfaced on Instagram, giving rise to speculations that they have rekindled romance.
“’Di po namin sinubukan magkabalikan sa Singapore,” Andi cleared. “I was there for a festival and it just so happened na nandu’n din siya. He also knows my friends so sumama lang po siya sa amin.”
She defended Jake from criticisms that he two-timed her causing the breakup.
“Jake is not in showbiz and he’s not obliged to share his personal life to the world. I just want to protect him.”
Just friends
At this point in her life, Andi wants to focus on her career and her daughter, Ellie.
Asked about her relationship with Bret, Andi shared they’ve forgone dating but are still friends.
“I think it’s about time that I experience being by myself. It does not mean that I don’t care about the people who care about me, it’s just that I think it’s not wrong of me to put myself first,” Andi said.
Bret respects Andi’s decision.
“I want all the good things for her. I don’t want to say things that would scare her. We don’t know what the future may hold naman, but I’m gonna be there for her,” he said.
In any case, he remains happy that whatever they had didn’t affect shooting for “Your Place Or Mine?” with Andi helping him out with his Tagalog lines.
“He is so committed to his character,” Andi said. “Kahit ’di niya naiintindihan ’yung sinasabi niya na script pero seryoso po siya sa ginagawa niya.”
How does Bret feel that Jake and Andi are on good terms again?
“He (Jake) has a relationship with Ellie and I have to respect that. I have to respect the fact that he has a relationship with Andi din. Four years ’yun. They shouldn’t have to hate each other just because they broke up.”
“Your Place Or Mine?” is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Turning Japanese. Directed by award-winning Joel Lamangan and also starring Andre Paras, the movie opens on April 29 but before that, the cast goes on tour on April 25 at SM Clark Pampanga (2 p.m.) and Ayala Marquee Mall (5:30 p.m.), April 26 at SM Manila (5 p.m.) and Lucky Chinatown Mall (7 p.m.). The label “rock and roll boy band” sure sounds like an oxymoron but it’s our closest description of Five Seconds Of Summer.
On the surface, these young Aussies – bassist Callum Hood, drummer Ashton Irwin and guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford – are One Direction with loud guitars.
Their first live album “Live SOS” seems to confirm this – the operative word being “seems.”
There is more to this band if you listen to their music more intently. Not only are they able to crank out their radio-proven hits with precision, but they do so with infectious energy. Check out the melodic “18,” the power chord-filled “Out Of My Limit,” and the Panic-At-The-Disco-like “Disconnected,” jumping out of speakers straight into our brain.
The power ballads translate well live, too. Mid-tempo acoustic number, “Amnesia,” and the ’90s alt-pop flavored “Long Way Home” offer interesting breaks in the mostly fast-paced pop-punk excursions.
Young as the members are (from 18 to 20), 5SOS has something to show as musicians. We hear this on “Beside You” and “Heartache On The Big Screen,” alternating between wild abandon and efficient. The group does a good covers of The Romantics’ “What I Like About You,” Green Day’s “American Idiot” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.”
So, are they a boy band or rock band? What’s sure is that they keep fans happy with songs best played with volume cranked up.
Throughout his lengthy career as musical director, arranger and composer, Ryan Cayabyab never tires of championing OPM.
His job as executive director of Philippine Pop Music Festival or PhilPop, now on its 4th year, is about him thinking ahead.
“(PhilPop) pushes kung ano ’yung music na lalaganap na gawa ng mga batang Filipino composers. We have to understand that the music industry is for the young people. Ang consumers niyan hindi naman kami (kasi at my age), iba na ’yung gusto ko (klase ng music), iba na ’yung bibilhin ko,” he said in an interview.
The 12 finalists in this year’s tilt are mostly by and for young people: “Triangulo” by songwriters Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana; “Tanging Pag-Asa Ko,” Paul Armesin; “Apat Na Buwang Pasko,” Gino Gonzalez and Jeff Arcilla; “For The Rest Of My Life,” Ned Esguerra; “Edge Of The World,” Johannes Daniel Garcia; “Paratingin Mo Naman Siya,” Davey Langit; “Musikaw,” Melchor Magno, Jr.; “Nasaan,” Lara Maigue; “Walang Hanggan,” Ramiro Mataro; “I Owe You My Heart,” Melvin Joseph Morallos; “Kilig,” Soc Villanueva; and “Sa Ibang Mundo,” Mark Villar.
Cayabyab noted how most of the songs are uptempo, several in the EDM (electronic dance music) vein. But as musical styles go, he said, “This year’s batch of finalists represents a diverse collection.”
He explained the adjudication process that some 2,500 entries went through before the final 12 were chosen. 40 adjudicators trimmed the number of entries in stages. The first trim was done in two consecutive days which yielded the top 1,000. The next elimination round determined the best 100 songs, then down to 34, up to the exceptional dozen.
“I told the adjudicators to be subjective; to pick the song that they want to bring to the next stage. Scoring was simple, the highest mark was a score of five and the lowest was one,” said Mr. C, adding it was all about “kung ano ang dating ng kanta sa kanila.”
He said that initally, the songs were given a chance for exactly a minute. If it doesn’t grab your attention within that time frame or if it doesn’t show signs that it’s going somewhere worthwhile, then that song is out and an adjudicator moves on to the next.
As what he has said before, it’s important that the songs are presented in the best way possible. No long intros and it helps if the demos are recorded in a studio.
Mr. C explained PhilPop’s slogan “Loud And Proud.”
“We hope na mag reverberate (ang OPM) sa labas ng Pilipinas. Kung meron J-pop, K-pop and Canto-pop, why not PhilPop?”
He added: “Ang talent ng Pilipino in singing, kilala na ’yan sa buong mundo pero ’yung music (mismo), hindi pa. Kumbaga ’yung hardware, nandu’n na, pero ’yung software – ’yung music – hindi pa.”
Note that some of this year’s submissions came from Pinoys all over the world including entries by those in Australia, Canada, the Middle East, America and other South East Asian countries.
The 4th PhilPop Grand Finals night is on July 25 with grand prize at a million pesos in cash.
Motherhood seems to have given actress Cristine Reyes a new perspective in life.
Cristine actively shares on social media her new journey as a mother. She gave birth prematurely to baby Amarah last February and the proud mother regularly updates her followers on the developments of her baby.
A few days ago, Cristine took to Instagram to reflect on her past. She posted an old photo, which shows her dancing at a party.
“This moment shows when my life was still pretty awesome!!! I reigned as number one, out of all the girls,” the caption read.
Cristine mulled living her life luxuriously at the “peak” of her career. She partied a lot and admitted buying a luxury car just to show off.
“I was at the peak of my career, traveling around the world, and I shopped ’til I exceed the limit of my credit cards. And of course, I’ve had to keep up with the people I worked with. I had to get my own luxury car: to impress and self-satisfy. I showed my sports car off and drove to our Sunday variety show. Partied everywhere and throwing them were my favorite,” she said.
Life was fun for Cristine then, but she realized it felt empty.
“I wasted my hard earned money thinking that it’s going to save on its own. I had no responsibilities. It was fun. Actually too much of it that it became pointless. It was glamorous, pleasurable, and a VERY EMPTY LIFE.#happygolucky,” she posted.
Two days ago, Cristine posted a video of her baby and her thoughts on how her life has changed since becoming a mother.
“I felt you my brave little one. I talked to you. Sang to you.. I wasn’t ready. But then you were here. Light bronze hair, grayish eyes. Your little voice. Instantaneously captured my heart. I bathed you. fed you,” Cristine wrote.
While she “wasn’t ready,” Amarah made her a “mother.” Cristine said every little thing her baby does gives her great joy.
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart. You smile and grabbed my hand with those ’lil fingers. I loved a little girl very much even more than I loved myself. We’re growing together. We are seeing the world like it’s new. We will walk hand in hand. Until you let go. I made you, but you made me a mother. May you always know my little one you were wished for. Longed for. Prayed for. And wanted. You are the sparkle of my new life,” she added.
Korina Sanchez, who hosts the 10-year-old weekly magazine show “Rated K,” enumerates the factors that could help people become successful.
“Number one, kailangan mahalin niyo at pagsilbihan niyo ang mga magulang mo. Kapag hindi mo minahal at pinagsilbihan ang magulang mo ay mailap ang suwerte sa‘yo,” Korina shared in an intimate gathering with select entertainment editors and writers.
Second is self-confidence. The award-winning broadcast journalist shared the example she often cites in her talks when driving the point home.
“Ginagawa kong example (eto): ‘Si Enrique Gil, gwapo?’ Oo daw. ‘Si Daniel Padilla ba gwapo?’ Nagsisigawan na ’yan. ‘Si Piolo (Pascual)? Si Coco Martin?’ Oo daw,” she said.
“’Eh, si Willie Revillame?’ Hindi sila kikibo.”
Korina continued: “Sabi ko, ‘Pero sino sa kanila ang may 12 sports cars, apat na mansion, dalawang yate at isang eroplano?’ Magsisigawan sila, ‘Si Willie!’ (That’s when I say) ‘I rest my case’ (dapat) ‘bilib sa sarili.’”
To reach success, one should should set and work toward achieving goals.
“Kailangan may pangarap pero kailangan pinaplano ang pangarap,” she quipped.
Factors four and five require even more diligence and some help from the divine.
“Angat ang masipag kesa sa matalino. Totoo naman, ’di ba?” Korina said, adding in jest, “Malaki ang sweldo ko sa valedictorian namin…”
“(Finally), pray and believe.”
Her show’s track record bears wisdom to her words. Based on Kantar Media Philippines, “Rated K” remains the most watched and number one Sunday TV program in the country to this day. “Rated K” features a diverse line-up of stories that mirrors and highlights Filipino culture – from inspiring stories of both celebrities and ordinary Pinoys to the latest trends in technology, food, and fashion to unusual tales of mystery and suspense to the hottest entertainment and lifestyle and leisure venues around the Philippines to even funny and trending events and personalities.
“Hindi ko ito ma-attribute to anybody except for the fact na sinusuwerte ako,” humbly said of her show’s success.
Asked on her mindset when it comes to competition, Korina likened it to how horses keep blinders on to focus on the road and their own speed especially in a race.
“I don’t look at competition,” Korina said. “Ang target ko is my own. Ganoon ako. I hardly look left and right and I want my own pace because I know I work really fast. I don’t want to be dictated by competition.”
On rumors that she was “fired” by the Kapamilya News management, Korina reiterated she’s simply “on leave.”
“Saan ba nanggaling ’yang kuwentong ’yan? It’s really because of school (that I had to lighten my work load). I’m taking my Master’s tapos meron akong London School of Economics, parehong online,” she said.
As brilliant as she is, Korina admitted striking a balance between school and work hasn’t been easy.
“Komo parehong online, akala ko madali. Diyusko, sukdulan pala ng hirap! (’Yung sa) Ateneo pa lang, nagkukumahog na ako.
“So, I lessened my load sa London pero meron pang on-campus two weeks ang Ateneo. Twice kong muntik nang ma-drop ang subject ko kasi I have a daily, ‘TV Patrol,’” said she, who plans to get a doctorate and resume studies in French after completing her master’s.
Korina said she doesn’t know yet if her husband, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, is running for higher post in 2016 or not.
“Hindi pa naman nag-de-decide si Mar,” she said. “I’ll only find out in June.”
This is the reason she is thinking of extending her leave from “TV Patrol” till June.
“Kasi kung babalik ako (earlier) tapos magde-declare din pala siya…
“(Kaya) tuloy-tuloy ako (sa leave). ’Pag hindi siya mag-declare, balik ako (sa ‘TV Patrol’).” (With report from Alex V. Brosas)

(Reuters) – A tour bus carrying the lead singer of country music group Lady Antebellum caught fire on Thursday on a highway near Dallas but no one was injured.
Local police in the Dallas suburb of Garland said the incident occurred on Interstate 30.
Vocalist Hillary Scott posted on Twitter that she, her husband and tour manager were traveling to Dallas when one of the rear tires blew out. The driver quickly pulled over before the fire spread in the vehicle, Scott said.
“Our bus tire caught on fire and we had to evacuate very quickly,” Scott wrote. “Everyone is safe and sound.”
The other two members of the group were not aboard the bus.
Lady Antebellum is nominated for vocal group of the year at the 50th annual Academy of Country Music Awards to be held on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Reuters) – “Chewie, we’re home.”
So declares Harrison Ford’s Han Solo in a new trailer released on Thursday for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the much anticipated return of one the most celebrated movie franchises of all time.
The trailer was the highlight of the annual “Star Wars Celebration” fan convention, where thousands of fansflocked to see old and new cast members discuss the movie set for release on Dec 18.
Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Anthony Daniels(C-3PO) joined Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, the lead actors of “The Force Awakens,” director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy to answer questions.
Ford, who first played Han Solo in the original 1977 movie, was unable to attend after being injured when he crash-landed a small plane on a golf course last month. Abrams said the actor was well and resting.
The first look at Ford in the new film prompted wild cheers in the convention hall from fans dressed in costume and wielding glowing lightsabers.
The new trailer opens with a vehicle racing along a desert-like planet called Jakku, as Luke Skywalker’s voice says, “The Force is strong with my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have it too.”
Other glimpses in the roughly 90-second clip show Isaac’s Poe Dameron in his X-wing, John Boyega’s Finn in a Stormtrooper suit, Daisy Ridley’s Rey running from a big explosion and new droid BB-8.
It concludes with Han Solo donning a leather jacket and standing next to Chewbacca.
“The Force Awakens,” produced by Walt Disney Co, picks up 30 years after “Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.”
Isaac, Ridley and Boyega revealed tidbits about their characters in a film that has been shrouded in secrecy.
Rey is a “very self-sufficient and solitary” scavenger in a ship graveyard, Ridley said.
Boyega’s character Finn has confused fans about whether he’s a villain or a hero. Boyega nodded when asked if he was a Stormtrooper, a soldier of the dark side.
“We find Finn in incredible danger and the way in which he decides to react to the danger changes his life,” Boyega said.
Poe Dameron was “sent on a mission by a certain princess and he ends up coming across Finn, and their fates are forever intertwined,” he said. (Reporting by Piya Sinha-Roy; Editing by Ted Botha)
SM Entertainment has apologized for Super Junior member Kangin’s failure to attend the required reserve force training while it denied that EXO member Tao is leaving the boy band.
Kangin, who performed with Super Junior in the country last April 12, was investigated by the police for not showing up on his training.
He was discharged from the Korean army in 2012 but it turned out that discharged soldiers are mandated to continue training for eight years.
“Due to Kangin′s schedules and personal issues, there was negligence. We will make sure this never happens again,” said SM Entertainment as quoted by EnewsWorld and Newsen.
The report said Kangin was given three chances to complete his 72 hours of training in the last two years but failed, prompting the police to investigate him.
On the other hand, SM Entertainment has denied a report that Tao is leaving EXO.
A Chinese news outlet earlier reported that the Chinese member is leaving the band.
“The rumors of Tao leaving the group are unfounded,” SM Entertainment told Enews.
Tao has been recovering from injury and has not been visible in EXO promotions, events that fueled rumors that he was quitting.
“There’s no such thing. It′s groundless,” the agency said.
ATLANTA (AP) — Paul Walker is not only being remembered onscreen, but in music too: The tribute song for him, “See You Again,” hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart Thursday.
The song from rapper Wiz Khalifa and budding singer Charlie Puth is from the soundtrack for “Furious 7,” the latest installment in the “Fast & Furious” film series that featured Walker.
Puth, 23, sings the emotional hook on the song. As he wrote “See You Again,” the singer thought about a friend who died around the same time as Walker. From there, the words came easily.
“It really hit home for me when my friend died in a very similar situation,” Puth said in an interview Wednesday. “Paul Walker’s incident was devastating, so I thought about Paul and my friend. I sat down at the piano, played those chords and those words just fell out of me.”
It took Puth about 10 minutes to write the hook of the song paying homage to Walker, who was killed in a car crash in 2013. Puth and Khalifa beat out a number of artists who submitted their lyrics and vocals for a Walker tribute song.
“It just felt right,” Puth said.
“See You Again” already set two Spotify records: It has earned the most streams in a day and week with 4.2 million and 21.9 million listens, respectively. And on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it supplanted Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s 14-week run at the top spot with “Uptown Funk.”
“I didn’t think it was going to happen,” said Puth. “I’m still surprised because ‘Uptown Funk’ is such a brilliant record … so for our song to take its place, it’s major.”
“See You Again,” which has sold 721,193 digital tracks so far, helped the “Furious 7″ soundtrack debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 albums chart this week. The film has become a box office winner, earning $252 million so far.
Days ago, “Furious 7″ star Vin Diesel sang a snippet of the song in memory of Walker at the MTV Movie Awards.
Grammy-nominated Khalifa, whose hits include “Black and Yellow” and “Young, Wild & Free,” said he wanted to celebrate life and family instead of being sad on “See You Again.”
“It’s such a meaningful song, so I tried to put all those things together,” Khalifa said in an interview Wednesday. “Charlie’s vocals are amazing, so it all came together and made sense.”
Puth released his debut single, the Meghan Trainor-featured “Marvin Gaye,” earlier this year. The New Jersey native, who was once signed to Ellen DeGeneres’ record label, has been busy writing for other acts, including Trey Songz’s latest R&B hit, “Slow Motion.”
Puth said the attention he’s received following the success of “See You Again” has become “surreal.” The singer said he cried after he got the news of the song topping the charts.
“I just walked outside, looked up at the sky and said, ‘Thank you to Paul and my friend,’” Puth said. “My friend always used to say I would have a No. 1 hit. So right now, I’m just taking it all in.”
