If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Recording artist Herbert Colangco may be in jail but he will promote the second single off his debut album “Kinabukasan” with big help from his cousin.
“I-pe-perform ng pinsan ko na si Randy Colancgo sa mga gigs niya, sa mga bars dito sa Metro Manila. Kakantahin niya ito with a full band,” Herbert said in an interview held at the Maximum Security of the New Bilibid Prison.
The new song is “Akala Mo Lang Yon” composed by the award-winning Edith Gallardo. The song comes on the heels of “Pano Yon” which pushed the CD to clinch Platinum despite that Herbert can’t promote on TV and in malls as other artists do.
Herbert considers himself blessed that he is quite the hero in his own backyard. He gets support from his fellow inmates as well as their family and friends who’ve been patronizing his music.
“Sobrang nakakataba ng puso ang pagtanggap sa kin ng mga tao,” he said.
The singer talked about life inside the prison, saying it’s not at all as disorderly or dangerous as many think. He appeals to people to not judge them but to give them a second chance because many of them are trying to “reform.”
Herbert plans to continue his musical career once he’s out.
“Iikutin ko ang buong Pilipinas para mag concert. Magbibigay ako ng saya sa mga tao, lalu na sa mga mahihirap, sa mga squatters area, at sa mga walang makain.
“Sa mga proyekto ko naman tulad ng feeding programs ko, mas palalawakin ko ito. Yun lang and hiling ko sa Sto. NiƱo, ang makapagsilbi sa mamamayan habang nabubuhay ako.”
Child actress Andrea Brillantes has drawn enough life lessons from co-actors to survive the topsy-turvy world of local show business.
In a recent interview with Bulletin Entertainment, she shared, “’Wag po lalaki ’yung ulo, act naturally lang po, tsaka dapat lagi pong careful, (and) paglaki ko, mag-ipon po ako nang mag-ipon.”
Andrea said that she learned these mostly from her “Annaliza” co-stars, particularly actor Zanjoe Marudo, who plays her father in the family drama.
She admitted that among her co-stars in the now defunct show, she has grown closest to Zanjoe, whom she continues to call Tatay. She considers Zanjoe and his girlfriend, actress Bea Alonzo, as her “second family.”
“Ninong ko din po siya,” Andrea added, referring to when she was baptized last year.
Life has indeed gotten better for the 11-year-old and her family. They have since transferred to a town house and now own a car as well.
Humility is important to Andrea, especially with people touting her as the next Judy Ann Santos.
“I-a-accept ko ’yun kasi maganda din pong maging next Judy Ann Santos. Magaling po kasi siyang umarte kaya parang feeling ko super touched ako dahil parang magaling siguro akong umarte kaya ako naco-compare sa kanya,” she said.
The future is bright
Even with a slew of product endorsements and TV projects, Andrea still makes it a point to catch up on her lessons as a regular student.
“Siyempre importante po ’yun dahil hanggang sa paglaki ko madadala ko po ’yun. Tsaka gusto ko pong lumaki na matalino, tsaka matapos ko po ’yung pag-aaral ko,” she said.
Apparently, the budding child star is also quite the dreamer, with multiple goals of becoming a director, a basketball player – yes, you read it right – and even a singer. “Pero medyo parang malabo ’yun sa boses ko, pero carry lang, basta pangarap ko rin po ’yun,” she said.
Despite her lofty goals, Andrea knows what is important. “Magdasal lang po tsaka matakot din sa Diyos, tapos mag-thank you lang lagi sa mga blessings,” she said.
Andrea recently joined boy group Gimme 5 as SM Kids Fashion’s newest brand ambassadors.
“’Yung favorite ko po ’yung mga denim dresses nila, kasi they’re very light and nice, and comfortable po. Minsan nagagamit ko po siya sa mga mall shows and when I want to go out. Tsaka ’yung mga shorts din po nila, ginagamit ko sila ’pag magma-mall ako or aalis kami ng mga parents ko.”
Although primarily known as a veteran news anchor for News5 dating back to the ABC 5 era, Cecilia “Chi” Datu-Bocobo has actually been singing and writing songs for quite some time.
Not too many people know it but Chi is the lovely singing voice behind commercial jingles for companies as diverse as Coke, Ivory, Cali Shandy, Jollibee, Home Radio and many more. She even wrote a good number of these jingles herself.
“I love singing and writing songs. Even here in TV5, I wrote and sang the jingles for ‘Good Morning Club’ and ‘Balitang 60’, our weekend newscast,” she recalled to InterAksyon during a recent interview to promote “Kung Akin ang Langit”, the PhilPop entry that she co-wrote with Isaac Garcia.
“My claim to fame, so to speak, was a United Nations-sponsored album that I co-produced and which featured a song I co-wrote with Rico Blanco called ‘Tayo-Tayo Rin’. It was a song for the Millennium Development Goals and was sung by several artists, namely Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Lea Salonga, Aiza Seguerra, Joey Ayala, Kuh Ledesma, Janno Gibbs, Pops Fernandez, Freddie Aguilar, the APO Hiking Society, Sarah Geronimo, Christian Bautista, Bayang Barrios, Kitchie Nadal, and Rico Blanco.”
Having joined the Metropop and Himig Handog in the past, the veteran broadcaster is not exactly a greenhorn in songwriting competitions, either. “Many of this year’s PhilPop finalists were also my fellow competitors back then. But they were the ones who focused more on songwriting while I concentrated more on broadcasting.”
Despite facing a field of mostly seasoned tunesmiths that include past winners like Jungee Marcelo, Soc Villanueva and Toto Sorioso (who has two entries in the Final 12), Chi feels good about her inclusion in the competition not because she expects to win but because she will get a chance to deliver the song’s special message to a lot of people.
“I always had this urge to talk about the genetic ailment of my 4-year-old son, Sancho, who has type 2 spinal muscular atrophy type 2, which has greatly limited his movements. I wanted to create some awareness about it and rare, genetic diseases in general, but I could not talk or blog about it,” she recalled.
Then early this year, Chi saw her son playing with a kite along with his father and she was moved at how happy Sancho was despite being bound to a wheelchair.
“I felt so much emotions and love for my son when I saw how happy he was playing with his kite so I just wrote the lyrics and right then and there, nabuo ko yung kanta,” she beamed.
Chi said it would be easier to say that “Kung Akin ang Langit” is just another love song and that would probably make it more universally appealing. But when she was asked about it during the PhilPop’s media launch last May, she just had to let everyone know what the song is about.
“When I wrote the song, I didn’t think about the repercussions. Being a very private person, I’m not the type who talks about my personal life a lot. But when I was asked about the song, I could not hide the real inspiration behind it. And it felt good talking about my son’s ailment because it gives hope to parents who have the same plight, who have kids with similar genetic diseases.”
“The song’s underlying message was clear and simple: If I could give Sancho a miracle, I would. If I could give him the stars, I would. Kung akin ang langit, abot mo ang mga ulap.”
With its engaging melody and sing-along lyrics that recall the playful tone of Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (yes, the “Toy Story” theme song), the song is even made more special by the inspired reading of Kenyo’s McCoy Fundales and Clara Benin, the voice behind those recent McDonald’s popular “Hooray for Today” jingles.
Chi said that at first it wasn’t easy to detach herself from the song. Like most songwriters, especially those who sing their own songs, she had her own ideas about how the song would be arranged.
“I’m sort of used to being discouraged to interpret my own entry as that was the case with ‘Himig Handog’ so when I entered ‘Kung Akin ang Langit’ for PhilPop, I had the demo sung by Moira de la Torre of ‘The Voice of the Philippines’. Still, when you’re a songwriter, you can’t help but be attached to your song. You want it sung a certain way and don’t want your interpreter to veer away from your original idea.”
Although she never imagined the song to be a duet, Chi said she was blown away by the rendition of McCoy and Clara, who also happen to be songwriters in their own right.
“Ang galing ni McCoy at ang galing ni Clara. Kung hindi ko binuksan ang puso ko na pwede pala siyang duet, hindi ko siguro ma-a-appreciate kung gaano kaganda ang kinalabasan nung ni-record na siya,” she enthused.
On a more encouraging note, Chi’s husband, Jorge Bocobo, mentioned in a radio interview that a lot of progress has been made as far as finding a cure for the disease. He and Chi are hopeful that Sancho will be able to walk and live a full, normal life soon.
Presented by Smart and Spinnr, co-presented by PLDT Home Telpad and sponsored by Maynilad, Meralco and Sun Cellular, the grand finals of the 3rd Philippine Pop Music Festival will be held on July 26 at the Meralco Theater.
Watch this video of the recording sessions of “Kung Akin ang Langit” as interpreted by McCoy Fundales and Clare Benin. The song can also be downloaded at Spinner.ph. One download equals one vote for Spinnr’s Choice special award that will be announced also on PhilPop’s grand finals night.
LONDON | Cult British comedy troupe Monty Python promised Monday their long-awaited reunion shows in London would feature scantily clad dancers and astrophysicist Stephen Hawking — alongside the inevitable dead parrot.
The five surviving members of the group — John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle and Terry Jones — open a 10-night residency at the O2 Arena on Tuesday, their first live performances together since 1980.
The £4.5 million ($7.7 million, 5.6 million euros) show will see classic sketches interspersed with big song and dance numbers — no mean undertaking for men in their seventies.
“I’m quite worn out even after the first number,” Palin, 71, told reporters on the eve of the opening night.
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who at 70 is still leaping about the stage, filmed a skit for the Pythons in which he feigned surprise that they were still going.
“I mean, who wants to see that again?… A bunch of wrinkly old men trying to relive their youth, and make a load of money,” Jagger said, tongue firmly in cheek.
The Pythons’ unique brand of physical comedy and brilliantly absurd sketches, shown in the 1970s TV show “Flying Circus” and in the hit films “Life of Brian” and “Holy Grail”, earned them a legion of global fans.
More than 14,000 tickets for the first night sold out in just 44 seconds in November and organisers rolled out another nine dates, for which some tickets remain.
The Pythons have promised to perform their greatest hits, including sketches about the dead parrot and the Spanish inquisition, while the wheelchair-bound scientist Hawking will make a cameo in some form.
“Our motto has been ‘leave them wanting less’,” joked Idle, 71, the brains behind “Spamalot” and the reunion show. “I’m happy and proud to say it’s pretty filthy,” he added.
The show includes archive footage of Graham Chapman, the sixth Python who died of cancer in 1989 aged just 48, and his absence is marked by its title: “One Down, Five to Go”.
The Pythons’ return has sparked a frenzy of excitement, but Cleese said he was relaxed about weight of expectation.
“When you get to our age people have bought tickets because they like you,” he said, to which Palin cautioned: “They could be assassins, John.”
‘DO IT ONCE WELL’
After losing a legal suit lodged by a former colleague over the profits of “Spamalot”, a hugely successful musical based on the “Holy Grail” film, the Pythons readily admit money is a driving force behind the reunion.
But they say they enjoy working together again — even if they are bickering.
Gilliam, 73 and now a top filmmaker, said in a recent interview that he found it “depressing” that they were reforming after almost four decades spent building successful independent careers.
Idle, a 71-year-old writer and director, retorted that Gilliam was “a little arsehole” while Cleese, 74, who played gadgets maestro ‘Q’ in several Bond films, remarked drily that “Terry finds a lot of life depressing”.
The gang showed every sign of getting along on Monday, although they were a little subdued, perhaps worn out by a fortnight of intense rehearsing and the challenge ahead.
The final performance on July 20 will be broadcast live to cinemas around the world, a final farewell to their fans — and Cleese insists it will really be the last.
“It’s much better to do it once really well, in England where it started, and then just leave it at that,” he said.
NEW YORK | A case against American actress Amanda Bynes for possessing marijuana and throwing a bong out an apartment window last year was dismissed on Monday by a New York judge.
The prosecution and her lawyer Gerald Shargel agreed earlier this year that the case should be resolved by an adjournment and possible dismissal if she stayed out of trouble for six months and met court demands.
“We demonstrated today that she was in compliance and as we expected the case was dismissed and sealed,” Shargel said. The 28-year-old actress did not appear at the hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court.
Bynes was arrested last May after an employee of the New York City building in which she has an apartment reported to police that someone had been smoking marijuana in the building.
She was taken into custody after she threw a bong, which is used for smoking marijuana, out a window of the 36th floor apartment.
Bynes gained fame as the 13-year-old star of “The Amanda Show” on the Nickelodeon TV network and in the 2010 film “Easy A.”
Earlier this year she pleaded no contest to a 2012 misdemeanor charge of reckless driving with an alcohol component in Los Angeles. She was given three years’ probation and told to enter an alcohol education programs for three months.
LONDON | Rolf Harris, a mainstay of family entertainment in Britain and Australia for more than 50 years, was found guilty on Monday on 12 charges of indecently assaulting young girls over two decades.
Harris, 84, was unanimously convicted by a jury of six men and six women of sexually assaulting four girls, some as young as seven or eight, between 1968 and 1986.
An artist and musician who presented prime-time TV shows mostly aimed at children, Harris is the biggest name to go on trial since British police launched a major investigation after revelations that the late BBC TV host Jimmy Savile was a prolific child sex abuser.
“Rolf Harris used his status and position as a world famous children’s entertainer to sexually assault young girls over a period spanning 18 years,” Jenny Hopkins, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor in London, told reporters.
“The victims in this case have suffered in silence for many years and have only recently found the courage to come forward.”
During the trial, the prosecution had portrayed the bearded, bespectacled entertainer, who once painted Queen Elizabeth’s portrait, as a predator who groomed and abused one woman for her entire teenage and young-adult life.
The London court was told he first assaulted the woman when she got out of the shower aged 13, and then repeatedly abused her until she was 28 years old.
‘DARKER SIDE’
“You were able to play with her like she was a toy,” prosecutor Sasha Wass told Harris, commenting that beneath his friendly loveable exterior there was a “darker side lurking”.
“Everybody in this court who has given evidence has said that they wouldn’t have stood a chance against you if it was your word against theirs. Because you were so famous, so popular, so loved by everyone,” she said.
Harris had denied all the charges and said the allegations against him were “laughable”. He said the girl he abused for years had invited his sexual advances, leading to a consensual affair.
During his appearance in the witness box, he even sang a brief extract of his comedy song “Jake the Peg”, mimicked the sound of a didgeridoo — a long, tubular Aboriginal instrument — and mimed his invention of the wobble-board, an instrument he made famous in the 1960s.
His wife Alwen had been in court to hear the allegations against him, but a spokesman for the Harris family said they would not be commenting on the verdicts.
Harris is one of more than a dozen ageing British celebrities to have been targeted by police as part of the same over-arching investigation, named Operation Yewtree, which was launched after the revelations about Savile emerged.
In 2012, London police said Savile, one of the Britain’s best-known celebrities in the 1970s and 1980s, had abused hundreds of victims, mainly youngsters, at hospitals and at BBC premises over six decades until his death aged 84 in 2011.
Some of those under investigation complained that Operation Yewtree had become a witch hunt, but in May it led to the jailing of Britain’s best-known show business publicist, Max Clifford, for indecently assaulting teenage girls some 30 years ago.
Harris will be sentenced on Friday.

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) – Singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran entered the British charts at number one on Sunday after his new release “X” became the fastest-selling album of 2014, the Official Charts Company said.
Sheeran’s second full-length album features the number one single “Sing” which topped the charts earlier this month. The album sold 182,000 copies since its release last Sunday, beating the previous record set by Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” by 14,000 copies.
Sam Smith’s “In The Lonely Hour” rose one place to second in the album chart, while last week’s number one “Ultraviolence” by Lana Del Ray dropped to third. “Ghost Stories” and “Caustic Love” by Paolo Nutini completed the top five.
In the singles chart, new entry “Gecko (Overdrive)” by Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill took the top spot from Ella Henderson who dropped to second with “Ghost”. Ed Sheeran held on to third place with “Sing” while another new entry, “One More Day (Stay With Me)” by Example, charted in fourth. (Reporting by William James: editing by John Stonestreet).
LOS ANGELES, June 29 (Reuters) – R&B star Pharrell, newcomer August Alsina and actress Lupita Nyong’o led the early winners at the BET awards on Sunday, while Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson and John Legend led the performances at the ceremony.
Pharrell, who kicked off the show with his upbeat hit “Come Get It Bae” with rapper Missy Elliot, was named best male R&B/pop artist over Brown, Alsina, Legend and Justin Timberlake.
He also won video of the year for his hit “Happy,” which went viral online after people posted videos of themselves from all over the world singing it.
“The song just became its own thing with the people, and I just want to thank all the people who uploaded videos … it’s no longer my song, so this award isn’t really mine, it’s the award that belongs to all the people.” he said.
New Orleans singer Alsina, who was nominated for four awards, scored the first win of the night for best new artist, and was overcome with emotion on stage.
“I told myself if and when I would get up here I wouldn’t cry,” he said. “I always wondered what this moment right here would feel like. And now I know, so thank you.”
Jay Z, Beyonce and rapper Drake led the nominations on Sunday with five nods each. Drake won best male hip hop artist over Jay Z, but was not on hand to collect his award.
Oscar-winning newcomer Lupita Nyong’o, also not at Sunday’s show, won the best actress award, beating out “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” star Oprah Winfrey and “Scandal” star Kerry Washington.
The BET awards, held in Los Angeles, celebrates black musicians, actors and athletes and is hosted by cable TV network BET, Black Entertainment Television, part of Viacom Inc.
Comedian Chris Rock hosted the show, throwing jokes and jibes at the likes of Solange Knowles, Rick Ross and Clippers owner Donald Sterling. He also handed out chicken and waffles to the audience, imitating Ellen DeGeneres’ pizza stunt during this year’s Oscars.
The three-and-a-half hour show toplined many high-profile performances from some of the music world’s biggest names.
Usher referenced his 20-year career with a medley of his hits while John Legend brought some romance with his ballad “You & I” and was later joined by newcomer Jhene Aiko as they sang her hit “I Don’t Need You.”
Oscar-winning actress and former “American Idol” finalist Jennifer Hudson belted her 90s-inspired song “Walk It Out.”
Troubled R&B star Brown joined rapper Lil Wayne to perform “Loyal.” Host Rock quipped about Brown’s plea deal and “dancing like he was free,” referencing his recent legal troubles.
The awards show was overshadowed by two incidents of violence at unofficial BET pre-parties in Los Angeles, including a shooting early on Sunday that left one person dead and four wounded. BET said both incidents “occurred at locations with events that were unauthorized and unaffiliated.” (Reporting by Piya Sinha-Roy; Editing by Sandra Maler)
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dust yourself off and try again Lifetime Network: Zendaya will no longer play Aaliyah in an upcoming film.
The 17-year-old Disney Channel star said Sunday that she pulled out of the project because “production-wise, (it) wasn’t all the way there.”
“Because it’s someone that I honor and I respect so much, it has to be 128 percent, especially for all her fans, including myself,” Zendaya said on her way into the BET Awards, where she’s up for the Young Stars award. “I didn’t feel like it was all the way there, so I didn’t want to do that. And when the time comes when it’s done right and it’s 100 percent, by all means, I will be the first person there ready to go.”
Lifetime announced Zendaya’s participation two weeks ago. The announcement sparked anger from Aaliyah’s family, who are not participating in the project.
The network tweeted Sunday: “We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.”
Others on social media suggested that another actress should play the late singer, who died in 2001 at age 22.
Zendaya defended winning the role in an interview with The Associated Press a day after the announcement. The 17-year-old said she wanted to show young people what Aaliyah was able to do.
“Of course it was hard” to pull out of the film, Zendaya said, “but again, I just think she deserves the world. She deserves something really, really incredible and so I would rather wait for that.”
The biopic was scheduled to film this summer.
LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK | “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” the fourth in the series of films about form-changing Autobot robots that save the planet, powered up with $100 million in box office sales, jump-starting a sleepy summer with the year’s biggest opening weekend.
“22 Jump Street,” starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, was second with $15.4 million in its third week in theaters, according to studio estimates. Animated film “How to Train Your Dragon 2″ took the No. 3 spot with sales of $13.1 million for the Friday through Sunday period at U.S. and Canadian theaters.
“Transformers: Age of Extinction” stars Mark Wahlberg in his first outing taking on the evil Dinobots. The series’ three previous installments, starring Shia LeBeouf, generated nearly $2.7 billion in worldwide sales, according to Box Office Mojo.
“It’s just a spectacular result,” said Don Harris, president of domestic theatrical distribution for Paramount.
The film took in more than $200 million overseas, an indication of “what a beloved franchise this is worldwide,” Harris added, crediting director Michael Bay who helmed all four installments.
“Transformers” added another $10.7 million on domestic IMAX screens and $16.6 million internationally.
Made for more than $200 million, the film pits Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and other Autobots against new villains. It met industry projections for its opening weekend.
The nearly three-hour movie garnered mostly poor reviews, with only 17 percent of 121 critics giving it a “fresh” rating, according to the site Rotten Tomatoes, but ticket buyers gave the film an A- rating according to polling service CinemaScore.
Prior to the opening of “Transformers,” summer ticket sales had lagged last year by 15 percent, according to the box office tracking site Rentrak, when blockbusters such as “Iron Man 3,” “Monsters University,” and “Fast & Furious 6″ drove ticket sales.
Last weekend’s box office leader “Think Like a Man Too,” a comedy starring Kevin Hart based on TV personality Steve Harvey’s book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” was fourth with $10.4 million.
“Maleficent,” Walt Disney Co’s revision of its 1959 movie “Sleeping Beauty” starring Angelina Jolie as a spell-casting evil fairy, rounded out the top five with $8.2 million and has totaled more than $200 million since opening on May 30.
“Transformers: Age of Extinction” was distributed by Paramount, a unit of Viacom Inc. Sony Corp released “22 Jump Street” and “Think Like a Man Too.”
More than three weeks after Herbert Bautista admitted to a panel of news anchors on national TV that he loved Kris Aquino but had no intention of pursuing her again, the actress and TV host dubbed as the Queen of All Media finally broke her silence and poured her heart out in a lengthy and emotional interview on “The Buzz”.
During the “Yes or No” segment of the ABS-CBN news program last June 6, “Bandila”, anchors Karen Davila, Julius Babao and Ces OreƱa-Drilon, the Quezon City mayor also known as Bistek replied, “Yes pero naputol” to Karen’s question if he and Kris were ever in a relationship.
When Karen asked if he wanted to rekindle their aborted relationship, Herbert said, “Wala na talaga akong magagawa. No, hindi na talaga puwede.” Later, when Karen rephrased the question and asked him if he intended to court Kris again, Herbert again replied, “Hindi na.”
When pressed by Julius to explain why their relationship did not prosper, Herbert said it was because he loved his children.
Kris admitted that she was hurt by Herbert’s replies in that “Bandila” interview because she truly loved him and also he had promised her that he would come back in her life after fixing what needed to be fixed, including himself.
“And when he tells you na babalik siya kapag naayos na ang lahat ng kailangan niyang ayusin, starting with fixing himself, because mahal mo siya, aasa ka. And every day magdadasal ka. Ang prayer mo, sana God it’s part of your will that we will be together in the future,” she revealed.
As she maintained her smile throughout the segment and declared that she’s neither angry nor crying, Kris even recalled some of their fondest memories, including the time they went to Starbucks and split the bill for their orders. Despite all the heartbreak, her simple message for Herbert in the end was simply, “True love graciously lets go”.
“I really wish that kung anong magpapaligaya sa buhay mo, kung ano ang kukumpleto sa ‘yo bilang tao, sana lahat ng ‘yun mapunta talaga sa ‘yo, sana makamit mo ‘yun…Grateful lang ako na dumating ka sa buhay ko. Someday, sana maging magkaibigan pa rin tayo,” she concluded.
Almost immediately following the interview, netizens posted mixed reactions on Twitter with a good number more sympathetic to Kris than her latest ex.
TV host-actress Kris Aquino has broken her silence over Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista’s “Bandila” interview wherein he said “no” when asked if he wants to get back with her.
“Ironic nga na siya naman ‘yung unang nagsalita when ako ‘yung expected ng lahat na mag-over share. I did keep quiet for one very human reason; I got hurt for that very same reason because I truly loved him,” she said on “The Buzz” Sunday.
Prior to his public statement about them, Bautista, according to Aquino, promised that he will work on their relationship after fixing some things first.
“When he tells you na babalik siya ‘pag naayos na ang lahat ng kailangan niyang ayusin – starting with fixing himself – because mahal mo siya, aasa ka and everyday magdarasal ka: ‘Sana God, it’s part of Your will that we will be together in the future…’
“Tapos iyon, isang gabi makakanood ka sa ‘Bandila’ and you hear him answer about you… and it wakes you up to the reality na wala pala talagang somewhere down the road para sa inyo.
“And you can’t stop crying because ‘yung future na inakala mo, ‘yung pinagdarasal mo, the future that kept you going, that dream it just disappears,” she said.
Aquino said she tried to look at it from Bautista’s perspective.
“You understand parental love because you love your sons so much too. And you hide that heartbreak, and you just cry yourself sleep every night – magsisigurado ka na ‘yung dalawang anak mo na nagse-share ng kuwarto mo, tulog na para hindi nila makitang umiiyak ka.”
She forgave Bautista after he personally apologized to her seven-year-old son, Bimby, for having hurt her.
“You forgive dahil kahit sinaktan ka, mahal na mahal mo pa rin siya at kahit papano humanga ka sa kanya,” she said.
Despite the heartbreak, Aquino remains “grateful” for having Bautista in her life even if for while. She said that her ex’s purpose in her life is to teach her about “true humility.”
“Kinailangan ko kasi talagang maramdaman kung ano ‘yung feeling na iwanan ka, ayawan ka – masakit ‘yun ah. Masakit talagang ipa-mukha sa buong mundo na kahit mahal na mahal mo ‘yung tao, sa isang live interview, aamin siya na ayaw na niya sayo, hindi ka niya babalikan – tatanggapin mo ‘yon,” said she.
The TV host waxed poetic on the lessons she learned from it all.
“I have to learn that love endures, love forgives, love can actually be quiet, and selfless. It doesn’t blame no matter how much you’re hurting. Love doesn’t look for revenge. Love has no regrets…” she said.
“True love graciously lets go.”
Los Angeles – “I have literally not taken off this jacket in weeks,” the 28-year-old Robert Pattinson told us when we interviewed him for his latest movie, “The Rover.”
Wearing a simple blue jacket, shirt and pants, the “Twilight” superstar explained that somebody stole his clothes. “It doesn’t make any sense to me,” he said. “Did you ever see that episode of ‘South Park’ about these underpants gnomes that steal your underpants? I think I got it. So I just started wearing the same thing pretty much every day, like a uniform.”
He admitted that he has no idea where his clothes are. “I’m sure they’re in some kind of random storage box somewhere… I know that is totally ridiculous but I couldn’t find any of them.”
Since he has been making movies in diverse locations since “Twilight,” the British actor revealed that he calls LA home – at least, for now.
Curiously, however, Robert informed us that he sold his house in LA “I suddenly realized I am not quite old enough to be dealing with the plumbing and stuff.”
We asked him if he’s homeless and he said, “I am not quite. I spend about six months borrowing other people’s houses, which were nice.”
It’s been two years after all the insanity and craziness of “Twilight” and Robert shared, “It feels like it’s longer, to be honest… it’s all just been a gradual progression. I think, as you get older, like every movie you do you get a little bit more confident…”
He added, “I’m curious how people receive the new stuff I’m doing because it’s kind of, you know, I do quite abstract films. So I am curious how people who like ‘Twilight’ will come to see things like ‘The Rover.’ Hopefully, they’ll enjoy it.”
Asked whether it became a nice escape for him to be filming “Rover” in Australia without “Twilight” fans wandering around, Robert replied, “It was definitely a really nice escape… I loved it because not only were there no people trying to find you, there’s no one at all. So it’s just much easier to concentrate. So I found it incredibly peaceful and relaxing.”
Robert is also appearing in “Maps To The Stars.” He explained his role in the said movie, “My role (in it) is a kind of cipher for Bruce Wagner who wrote it and because he used to be a limo driver in LA. He wrote a lot of stuff and got many of his ideas from that so he is the one vaguely normal person in ‘Maps to the Stars’ but he’s kind of a little bit opportunistic. He is a wannabe actor and writer but probably not that talented. He’s like a hustler in LA.”
On choosing roles, Robert said, “50 percent is about being able to work with directors I admire. I think about that a lot but I find it more comfortable to do small roles if I am choosing something for its director. But if you are doing a lead, I try to do something, which I think will precipitate into my normal life.
“I want to do something which I feel (is) totally impossible for me to do. I think it will make me a bigger person in my real life afterwards. I kind of try to do that.”

MANILA -- Actress Kim Chiu, wearing a white body suit, appeared in a "wet and wild" dance number on the Sunday noontime show "ASAP."
Rhian Ramos skipped “cycles” before doing another soap opera.
Her last was “Genesis” which ended in December 2013. After a short break, she found herself raring to take on another TV job. Luckily, her so-called second cycle was a dream come true.
In GMA-7’s “My Destiny” that premieres on June 30 after “NiƱo,” Rhian portrays a woman afflicted with leukemia.
Rhian said the role is a big challenge as it veers from the usual portrayals that she has been accustomed to in the past.
“I have been asking for this role for a long time, something where I would be deglamorized. I’d look really very different in the middle of the show,” she revealed.
Part of her preparation is consistently discussing her character with director Joyce Bernal are her acting coach.
“You have to dig deep because there are really some things that you’re never going to find in the script. And I’m also preparing myself physically because I want to make some physical changes to suit the role.”
“My Destiny” also stars Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez with Sid Lucero and Lorna Tolentino as Rhian’s mother.

JILLIAN, MONA LOUISE NOT BEST FRIENDS?
In the upcoming “My BFF,” another GMA-7 original drama series about friendship and family, Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey play best friends. But both admit they are not even close in real life.
At the recent press launch of the show, Jillian said she and Mona Louise don’t even share the same dressing room. Mona Louise, on the other hand, said she is chummier with co-stars of her age.
But of course, when in front of the cameras, the girls are professional enough to do what they have to do – deliver a great performance.
Joining the young stars on “My BFF” are Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs, a popular love team in the ’80s who are working together for the first time in a drama series on Philippine TV.
Manilyn said she is happy that her reunion project with Janno is fit for the whole family.
Directed by Roderick Lindayag, “My BFF” premieres on June 30 before “24 Oras.”

Some films are made-up scary but there are those that come from real-life darkness. One such movie is “Deliver Us From Evil,” based on the best-selling non-fiction book “Beware The Night” by Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool.
A supernatural thriller, the movie brings a blue collar NYPD guy, Sgt. Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana) out of the mean streets and into a world of bizarre incidents that darkened his soul. That the film meshes together a tale of the paranormal based on real events and the classic New York police story makes it compelling.
“The movie is not based on a true story in the full sense of the word, but rather inspired by paranormal cases in Ralph Sarchie’s book, strung together in a single narrative,” says director and writer Scott Derrickson.
Here are ways that even the people behind the film, as well as its lead Bana, weren’t spared the creeps:
Battling evil
Edgar Ramirez, who plays the exorcist priest Joe Mendoza, prepared for his role by talking to several priests who were open enough to share their feelings and anxieties. “I also researched exorcism, and the psychological and emotional consequences that come from performing such a rite. The interviews that I did and the information that I collected indicated that it’s very close to post-traumatic stress disorder, because when you face the devil, you are going to war.”
Shouldn’t have read it at night
Chad Oman, executive producer and president of production for Jerry Bruckheimer Films, one of the companies behind the movie, first came across the story as a six-page book proposal from Sarchie, who was then still an officer in the Bronx’s 46th Precinct. The book would become “Beware The Night.” Oman recalls, “I took it home and read it one night at about midnight after my wife and kids went to sleep. I got about three or four pages into it, and had to stop. I went into the room where my wife was to finish reading the proposal, because it was that frightening.”
Researching exorcisms
“I really don’t want to talk about it too much, but other than to say I saw some materials that, some I am glad I saw and some I wish I hadn’t seen,” says star Bana. “I 100 percent believe that there are people who, no matter what you want to call it, who are suffering immensely because of what they are experiencing. What you call it, how you describe it, how you paraphrase it, I think that’s the right of every individual. But I saw enough to be very moved and very scared.”
Dealing with demons
Derrickson, whose other creepy directorial work was “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” notes, “Exorcisms are real. They happen often. And no matter what you think about them, they’re fascinating and they’re frightening. I’ve read a lot of documentation of cases and seen a lot of case videotapes, and they’re incredible disturbing and compelling.” He adds, “I’m not really interested in trying to propagate people’s belief in the reality of demons or not, but I do think that the phenomenon of exorcism is something that people need to take seriously.”
Check out “Deliver Us From Evil” if you agree. It opens in local theaters on July 2.
