For Dingdong Dantes, his commitment as a GMA talent for 15 years speaks of who he is to Marian Rivera – lasting and loyal.

But just like what he has always said, tying the knot with his girlfriend of three years will not happen soon, dismissing the rumor that he got engaged with the actress during their recent trip to Bali, Indonesia to celebrate her birthday.

Dingdong, who has renewed another five years of partnership with GMA, was hounded with wedding questions during the contract-signing held recently. Even one of his bosses, Felipe Yalong, GMA-7 Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, guaranteed Dingdong of his support should he decide to marry in the next half decade.

At age 33, the Kapuso Primetime King thinks that his commitment to his craft should come first. Asked what would make him “retire” from career to become a family man, he said, “Siguro ang basehan ay hindi ’yung kung ano ’yung gagawin ko o nagawa na but it’s (marriage) a spiritual thing na you will just know at the right moment.”

“Siguro ako lang ang nakakaalam no’n (kung kailan),” Dingdong added.

The upcoming “Genesis” star also addressed suggestions that Marian, 29, is just waiting for a marriage proposal.

“Alam ko ang mga pangarap niya. Alam ko ’yung capabilities niya, ’yung mga gusto niya pang gawin – although I don’t wanna claim naman na 100 % (alam ko) ’di ba kasi siyempre siya’y isang indibidwal din na may sariling discretion – but siguro at this point, masasabi ko that I know what will make her happy,” said Dingdong.

Not that he isn’t ready for marriage, Dingdong insisted. “Ang pagiging ready naman, hindi lang financially ready or anything, it’s more of tamang pagkakataon, spiritual blessing.”

As “King” and “Queen” of GMA’s Primetime, Dingdong could only hope for his and Marian’s supposed reunion project next year after “My Beloved” in 2012.

“Sana… nothing is certain yet. Nag-uusap pa ang aking manager at GMA so, wala po kami sa posisyon na mag-declare ng posibleng gawin,” he said.

According to the actor, perfect timing is one contributing factor in finding the perfect leading lady for him in any project.

He explained, “Ayoko lang dahil ‘gusto ko.’ We now do this, wherein we go through auditions. Even I subject myself na, ‘Babagay ba sa akin ’yung role?’ Hindi ko ipipilit. So, if it has to be na we will go through a process like audition, kailangan gawin ’yun, which we have been doing mula noong ‘Marimar.’ Kaya I give my full trust sa ating mga boss.”

‘She’s The One’

Meanwhile, Dingdong also gave an update on his Star Cinema movie with Bea Alonzo.

“We are shooting almost everyday. Ako, I’m shooting everyday, even my Sundays dahil ipapalabas na kami sa Oct. 16,” he said, adding that the romantic flick is now titled “She’s The One.”

Because it’s a light romantic movie, “She’s The One” will not have love scenes unlike in his past films, according to Dingdong. .

Dingdong also echoed Bea’s earlier sentiment of feeling awkward with each other on set. “Yes, it’s awkward but it’s pretty much an advantage to us.”

Having their respective real-life partners, Marian and Zanjoe Marudo, Dingdong thinks that doing a romantic film works better for them. “Because probably, nilalatag naman namin is a story about how life is, how love is. Ano pa ba ang pwedeng maging mas magandang basehan kundi ang aming mga personal na buhay, ’di ba?”

Marian, on the other hand, has wrapped up work on a Star Cinema comedy film, “Kung Fu Divas,” with Ai Ai de las Alas.
