As far as being close to her followers goes, celeb blogger and occasional actress Laureen Uy not only wants to be at arms’ reach but in their pockets and at the end of their fingertips anytime, anywhere.

Uy has launched “Break My Style,” a mobile application available for free on Apple iTunes store that allows people on-the-go to view contents of her blog at the click of a button.

“It has notifications when I upload something so they don’t have to keep viewing my blog from time to time. Just like how I affect my followers, they affect me so I keep thinking of things to inspire them,” she told Bulletin Entertainment in a recent interview.

The innovation is actually an expression of gratitude to her fans. Since being seen on the TV shows “My Binondo Girl” and “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” her followers have increased and they have become more interactive with her and curious about her goings-on.

“It’s surprising because when I started blogging, it was really just for myself. I never thought I would gain followers even when I know it (contents of her blog) is out there in the world,” she said.

According to a release, the BMS app has clean and simple design with a menu of categorized buttons (e.g. “Blog”, to read entire blog posts; “Looks”, photo gallery for latest outfits; “Reader of the Week”, a tab created to feature followers).

At the age of 24, Laureen has learned through blogging that to keep a point strong, don’t blunt it, “wag paulit-ulit,” as she puts it.

“And I don’t blog about myself all the time. I blog about other things, too. I think my followers got excited also when I blog about events and things I see…”

She comments on criticism that some blogs just post pictures.

“There really are just visual blogs lang. Like it’s 90% photos and 10% words. So it really depends on your passion,” Laureen said.

This blogger isn’t surprised that a lot of actors have taken to social media. Apart from keeping in touch and expressing their thoughts, doing so has practical reason: to kill time productively.

“Siyempre pag taping, ang haba ng oras mo dun (so pag break) I answer emails, I blog,” she said.

People won’t need to read her blog, though, to find out her next moves as actress—just read on one paragraph more.

“I’d like to do indie movies. As for doing another TV show, I still have invites and if may magandang project, I will say yes.”
