Apl.de.ap has arranged a collaboration between Filipino rap metal band Slapshock and an international group.
“We’re really honored, and of course we want to dedicate this sa lahat ng musicians – we never gave up, so this should be inspirational,” Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia told “TV Patrol” during the group’s despedida.
Jamir also offers the international break to “our family, who, put up, pretty much, with all the craziness.”
Apl, on his part, bid them “Good luck guys. I’ll make sure you guys have somewhere to sleep.” (laughs)
The Black Eyed Peas member has signed Slapshock to his label, Jeepney Music, and is reportedly producing their upcoming album.
For the kids
Aside from helping his co-artists, apl has been assisting several Filipino communities, particularly Zamboanga.
He was in town recently to spearhead his foundation’s project, a two-storey school building at Talon-Talon Elementary School.
“That’s what the youth really needs – a school to go to and pursue their dreams,” the rapper born Allan Pineda said.
“When you bring opportunity, it brings prosperity, and prosperity brings peace.”
