‘Boys Night Out’ hosts Eric Virata (Slick Rick), Samir Gogna (Sam YG) and Anthony James Bueno (DJ Tony Toni)
Despite the surging popularity of mobile gadgets, FM radio still has followers because of shows like “Boys Night Out” (B.N.O.) and the commitment of its hosts to give listeners unique and quality content.
“People tend to go for whatever is most accessible, to keep them company during that slow drive home, and for a lot of people, FM radio continues to be their main source of in-car entertainment,” says Anthony James Bueno a.k.a. DJ Tony Toni. “They want something that is very easy to listen to, hear something upbeat and make them laugh a bit to end an already stressful day at work.”
DJ-turned-celebrity Samir Gogna or Sam YG adds, “With FM or radio in general, people develop an affinity to whatever music or program the station provides. Sometimes it’s a station they grew up listening to, or a habit they picked up from their parents when they were younger.”
And while one can listen to MP3 players anytime, “Boys Night Out” provides unique content.
“The callers actually contribute to making a good show,” points out Eric “Slick Rick” Virata. “And we are fortunate enough to have very insightful listeners whom we believe really make an effort to be interesting when sharing their thoughts on air.”
“‘Boys Night Out’ may have a reputation for being ‘pilyo’ and for asking our guests some very ‘naughty’ questions, but we always make it a point to make the show very positive and engaging each night,” says Sam YG.
Because of the popularity of “B.N.O.,” the Boys have definitely gone way beyond the confines of their radio booth at Magic 89.9, hosting some of the biggest events and being part of even the most exclusive parties in the city.
Whether they are in COCOL (Coffee Coffee Lang), HOHOL (Hang Out Hang Out Lang) or MOMOL (Make Out Make Out Lang) mode, it’s not surprising that the three eligible bachelors with the looks, the personality and humor can sweep any woman off their feet.
Now, even if they opt to stay home, the trio can still have a good time.
“A very good TV like Devant and a home theater setup is the perfect way to chill out at home – and for those rainy days, it wouldn’t hurt to have some red wine and a nice girl to keep me company while watching some romantic flicks,” smiles Sam YG.
“Video games!” quips Slick Rick. “I’m an avid gamer, and there’s always something new coming out so I look forward to playing those games on my Devant TV.”
For Tony Toni, staying home means catching up on his favorite movies and TV series, saying, “I love my 55-inch Devant TV, and whether it’s catching up with the latest episodes of ‘Suits’ or having a DVD marathon of ‘Friends’ or ‘Entourage,’ I don’t have to worry about high electricity costs because of Devant’s energy efficiency features.”

A Promising Kapamilya Star
She was 13 when she started her showbiz career (she auditioned for Star Magic 2011), and now at 15, Sofia Andres is showing great potential as an actress. She is being launched in a movie directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal and will be teamed up with no less than Piolo Pascual’s son, Iñigo.
Direk Joyce has been quoted as saying, “It took us three years to look for a young actress to pair with Iñigo. Nandito lang pala sa Quezon City at sa bakuran pa ng ABS-CBN!”
Sofia, who appeared on “Princess and I,” was supposed to have been launched in a Kristine Hermosa project but this was shelved when the actress got married. “Kristine Hermosa is actually my idol and I would like to achieve what she has achieved as an actress,” said Sofia, also a BNY style ambassador whose mall shows for the brand starts on Oct. 11.
Passionate and dedicated to her craft, the third year high school student would like to enhance and improve in acting while coping with her studies.
Aside from wearing the latest BNY collections, she expects moral support from the clothing brand. “I’m proud and honored to be a member of the BNY family. BNY encourages me to do my best in my career.”
