In addition to its already formidable line-up of hosts in “Nanay” Cristy Fermin, Direk Joey Reyes, Lucy Torres-Gomez and newest Kapatid Raymond Gutierrez, what makes “Showbiz Police: Intriga Under Arrest” an engaging showbiz talk show is the presence of not just one but three beautiful reporters in Dani Castaño, Divine Lee and MJ Marfori.
Dubbed as Showbiz Police Officers with their respective SPO numbers, the three ladies offer a nice mix of innocence and experience and come with diverse credentials in the business.
Dani Castaño is a Fil-Am beauty queen that represented the Philippines in the 2008 Miss World pageant where she finished in the Top 10 in the Beach Fashion challenge. In addition to a brief acting career where she was cast in two Vic Sotto comedies “Love On Line (LOL)” and “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” as well as Mario O’ Hara’s final feature film “Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio”, where she played Gregorio de Jesus, Dani is also best known as arguably the feistiest bombshell contestant in “The Amazing Race Philippines” last year.

Despite these credentials and a family spa business operations that she personally oversees, Dani was already contemplating on packing her bags and pursuing further studies in the US when the “Showbiz Police” offer came along.
“I’ve been a Viva talent for three years and I haven’t been given projects as of late so I asked Boss Vic Del Rosario if I still have a career here in the Philippines. If not, I told him, I’ll just go back to the US and maybe also apply as a stewardess in Qatar,” she told InterAksyon in a recent interview.
The Viva executive initially gave her another reality competition series on cable TV called “PantaXa” where she was supposed to be mentored by fellow bombshell Gwen Garci. But then “Showbiz Police” landed on her lap so she decided to give it a try.
Among the three “Police Officers”, Dani admits to being the least knowledgeable when it comes to showbiz matters. But that is something that viewers may consider as more of a strength rather than a weakness as that will also allow her to have a fresher take on the often intriguing subjects that will she assigned to report on.
“I’ve done my share of hosting gigs but this is different from any other project I’ve done. So yes, I need to push myself in knowing what is happening in showbiz,” she admitted.
Thankfully, Dani has two experienced fellow officers to turn to for help and advice. There’s fashion diva turned TV host Divine Lee, whose stints in TV5 showbiz talk shows like “Juicy!” and “Ang Latest” prior to “Showbiz Police” has brought her closer not only to the celebrities that she gets to rub elbows with but also to fans whom she has connected on a very personal level.

In fact, when calamity strikes during killer typhoons, Divine makes it a point to help victims in any way she can, communicating with concerned authorities and taking pledges of assistance through her personal Twitter account. It’s no surprise therefore that she is personally assigned to focus on the social media aspect of “Showbiz Police”.
“I’ll be in the studio reporting mostly on what’s happening in the Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts of your favorite celebrities, including the intriguing issues concerning them,” she revealed.
Divine is very happy to be part of a showbiz talk show host two months after “Ang Latest” aired its final show. She is particularly glad to be finally working with longtime friend, Raymond Gutierrez.
“Matagal na kaming magkaibigan ni Raymond pero ngayon pa lang kami magkakasama sa isang show. Excited din ako about ‘Showbiz Police’ because it’s designed to be more fearless and more serious and with more time to talk about the issues,” she noted.
News5 entertainment reporter MJ Marfori agrees, adding that what makes “Showbiz Police” different from other showbiz talk shows is that it actually “merges news and entertainment”.

Mostly assigned on the field not only for the show but also for News5 in general, MJ takes to her job like fish takes to water.
“I’ll still be doing what I love to do which is covering the people, just be natural and chika-chika with them. College pa lang ako, yun na yung training na kinagisnan ko. Gaya ng maraming tao sa TV5, hindi rin ako natutulog. Dito sa ‘Showbiz Police’, we strive to make each segment that we make as original as possible,” she exclaimed.
MJ does not see any chemistry issues in as far as her team-up with Dani and Divine are concerned as they all personally get along well.
“I covered Dani when she was a contestant in ‘Amazing Race Philippines’. Si Divine naman, alam naman natin na exposed na exposed yan sa social gatherings at putok na putok din ang social life. I’m very close to her on and off camera,” she added.
Asked if there are any particular “chismis” about the three of them that people still don’t know about, MJ said she can’t speak for Dani and Divine. “Pero ako, mahilig ako sa sili, yun lang,” she confessed.
