Never has there been so much pressure or anticipation behind a kiss.
When “My Husband’s Lover” held a concert at a jam-packed Smart Araneta Coliseum recently, the audience waited with bated breath for the all-too-important kiss between Vincent (Tom Rodriguez) and Eric (Dennis Trillo). Just as they had done as they tuned in to the series night after night, the fans had been expecting this pay off for some time now.
Much to their fans’ disappointment, what hadn’t happened on screen didn’t materialize on stage during the concert either. The stars merely did a duet.
All isn’t lost, however, as Dennis and Tom’s manager, Popoy Caritativo, assures. In fact, the much-awaited kiss did happen.
Posting an Instagram photo of his wards with their lips locked in one scene on “MHL,” part of Popoy’s caption read: “The kiss. This is what we all waited for.”
He went on to say he posted the picture to “let all MHL fans kow that yes, vincent and eric kissed…”
Popoy also took the opportunity to “gloat and take pride in my two boys… for being very brave and professional in doing the scene…” and also, “accepting the roles of eric and vincent which any actor with less talent and courage will not even consider doing.”
As the series draws to a close, he also commended his talents all the months they’ve “lived and breathed” their characters; praising them for their “love of their craft…” He also thanked the two for “trusting me and for being very brave and fearless and for taking the risk.”
One of Popoy’s Instram followers (@iamdonnacorros) gushed in a lengthy post – his second one, no less – and described it “THE BEST KISS ive seen,” noting, “It was perfect, romantic, full of love.. NO ONE CAN DO THIS kayo lang @dennistrillo @akosimangtomas ..staring this pic for many hours since it is posted and I am crying. God I have to let go of this loveteam which I really loved…” Like many, he is looking forward to the next TomDem project.
@Jeloiz_uzi noted, “OM….they did it! Sepanx again….first from TOW and now in MHL. gonna miss the pambansang Beh of Phil tv. when can we see ur 3 Luminary Boys in 1 project? Sana meron! @popoycaritativo congrats to u and ur boys!”
For @daphnecruz63, “TomDen are good actors who know their jobs well enough to take risks with the roles they play. Kudos.”
However, there is one catch to this. Apparently, the TomDen kissing scene, although part of the “MHL” finale, will still not be shown on TV but included in the DVD version of the top-rating GMA soap opera.
