Solenn Heussaff
When it comes to her acting career, no one can beat French-Filipina actress Solenn Heussaff’s persistence in going the extra mile.
Case in point is her role in “Status: It’s Complicated,” where she plays fashion designer Sylvia. Studying fashion in real life, the role could be a perfect fit for Solenn except for an important detail – her lines in English and most especially Tagalog!
Solenn admitted. “Gusto ko ng mag-back out noong nakita ko kung gaano kahaba yung lines and may Tagalog din.”
She added that after reading the script, she studied her lines at least 40 times, and that was even before shooting began.
After watching the whole film last Nov. 2 during a press preview, Solenn said, “I’m happy with the result!”
“Status: It’s Complicated” is the remake of the early 80′s Ishmael Bernal movie “Salawahan.” According to Chris Martinez who helmed “Status: It’s Complicated,” they retained the tone and rhythm of the original by using the “Salawahan’s” style of continuous and fast dialogues among its actors like Eugene Domingo, Maja Salvador, Paolo Avelino and Jake Cuenca.
“Si Solenn pagdating sa set plakado na yung dialogue. Memorize na niya kaagad so okay yung part na yun. Siyempre kapag kabatuhan na niya ang ibang artista iba na yun. Yung iba first time magbato ng lines so maraming rehearsals. Like for example yung confrontation nila ni Paolo sa office yun talaga dirediretso medyo prepare muna. Una batuhan ng mga lines, tapos yung motivation, nagtutulakan na sila then take na,” said Chris.
Solenn also saw some truth in the film when it comes to “babaeros.”
“Maraming lalaking ganun na kilala ko. So totoo talaga. Sa showbiz din meron. Meron ding reporters,” said Solenn, smiling.
With regards to her future, Solenn has long prepared to pursue her passion in make-up, prosthetics and fashion by studying them in France. She studied fashion design in Studio Berçot, basic beauty/fashion make-up, body painting, and prosthetics at Ecole Fleurimont, Paris and at Make Up Forever Academy.
“Gusto ko talaga mag-body-paint, prosthetics, pero wala akong chance magawa yan. Minsan nag make-up ako sa buong team ko sa ‘Sunday All Stars’ and then may tumawag sa kanilang isang production house at tinanong kung sino nag make-up sa kanila kasi balak nilang kunin. Sabi nila si Solenn sabi nila ay mahal na yan,” she shared of her passion.
Despite her busy career, Solenn already has other career options.
“Feeling ko hindi ako magiging stable hanggang yung trabaho ko hindi totoong business. Hindi naman lifetime ang showbiz. Gusto ko may sarili akong company. Showbiz comes and goes. People in showbiz come and go. Gusto ko sa clothes, sa fashion or magkaroon ng mini salon, train three people and have a good team tapos. But It’s a very good training for me sa showbiz,” she admitted.
“Status: It’s Complicated” is in theaters nationwide.
