Mariel Rodriguez’ Instagram post last Sunday that shows her husband Robin Padilla giving alms to an old Venecian man has set netizens abuzz.
In the 15-minute video, Robin is seen looking at the camera while picking what appears to be cash. The actor then walked closer to the old man and gave the money.
In the caption, Mariel wrote: “he shares his blessings to everyone in need. venetians and ofws… i am a witness to this… as in everyone he sees. he helps not only in the philippines but anywhere and everwhere.”
Some, however, questioned the intention behind publicizing Robin’s gesture.
“Why looking at ur cam and di bumalik sau…. Making a movie po ba to or true to his gesture,” asked username sagibac.
Username moninazonio added, “Bkit klngan post p …,,di n kc klngan mkita ng tao dpt tao ngkukuwento.”
Mariel blasted the negative talk, saying she has the right to post any video she want on her Instagram account, and that the one of Robin is a genuine act of charity and kindness.
On Robin’s alleged awareness of Mariel’s video recording, she explained, “he looked at the cam and said ‘ano yan?’ cause he didn’t know what I was doing.”
The TV host told the scoffers to just be inspired by the “good people in this world with good intentions.”
Robin also said his piece.
“Peace @ moninazonio @sagibac wala pong masamang intensyon si @marielpadilla let us work together for our filipino race so we can truly stand.
“walang masama sa pg post ng magandang bagay, Un lang,” he posted.
The two is reportedly in Europe shooting the Robin – starrer “10,000 Hours,” an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
