Isabelle Daza continues to earn raves for her performance in the hit film “Lihis” with not a few critics insisting that she is already ripe for the big time.
However, Daza herself is still unconvinced of her acting abilities, so much so that she admits, even at this point, she doesn’t dare put “actress” as her occupation when filling up forms.
“Minsan nilalagay ko TV host, student or entrepreneur… nahihiya pa ako,” the 25-year-old told Bulletin Entertainment. She deems her acting is “something that I have to work on pa.”
Daza says she is more comfortable with being a model-endorser, continuing her relationship with Bench by pushing the fashion brand’s new perfume dubbed Univers by Isabelle Daza.
“It’s an old French word actually,” she explained. “We picked it kasi I want the scent to be, like, universal, unisex… for both men and women and, yeah, for bekis, too.”
Of course, there’s also that connection with her mom, Gloria Diaz, the 1969 Miss Universe.
“Yeah, there’s that… I love my mom, she’s my number one fan and supporter,” Daza said.
Coming up with a fresh new scent unlike no other is a long and arduous process, said Daza.
“Sobrang haba,” she shared. “We considered kung ano kasi ‘yung scent na… magugustuhan ng karamihan.”
She described Univers as exhibiting a “deep, kind of musky scent,” adding, “Ang mga Pinoy kasi they like flowery, they like light, pero we wanted to offer something new.”
“And most celebrity scents, the women, ‘di ba, they have their own (scents) na very girly so, ako naman, very sexy.”
However, she doesn’t see this as a competition between her and others of her ilk who also have their line of perfume with the brand, among them Kris Aquino, Gretchen Barretto, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Kathryn Bernardo, and her close friend, Lovi Poe.
“Walang patalbugan,” she said. “We are all supporting each other.”
Daza revealed that her partnership with Bench is very dear to her inasmuch as she considers company owner Ben Chan like a father.
“Siya talaga ang nagpasimuno ng career ko,” she said of Chan. “Most people don’t know na ayaw ko magshowbiz, ayoko mag-model before… I was a tomboy. Pero Ben Chan was the one who offered me the invitation to do Human (local fashion brand). Nung sinabi niya ’yun parang inisip ko, ‘Bakit ako?’ But it all started from there.”
With all the blessings coming her way, does she consider herself already a success?
“Yeah, I’m happy kasi now and for me ‘yun ‘yung true measure ng success, when you’re happy,” she shared.
