ER Ejercito, the lead star and producer of the upcoming movie “Boy Golden,” insists that locking lips with his 28-year-old leading lady, KC Concepcion, onscreen is more than necessary to the script.

“Hindi maiiwasan, e, hindi maiiwasan,” said the 49-year-old actor. “‘Yung istorya (kasi) eh, gangster movie. Sabi ko nga, ‘Destroy property, defy authority, display nudity.’”

“Boy Golden,” a film that tackles the life story of a legendary Pinoy hoodlum, is now included in the official entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The film made it into the line-up following the withdrawal of several entries from the festival, including “My Super Kap” and “Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie,” as well as the eventual rejection of “Pinoy Mutant Warriors” allegedly due to significant changes in the film.

Aside from wanting to keep as many romantic scenes as he deems necessary, Ejercito promises his fans that “Boy Golden” will be an exciting offering replete with “action, drama and comedy” – that is, with less blood and gore.

Prior, Ejercito balked at the MMFF committee’s suggestion that he trim down the violence that the film will depict.

“Napakahirap kasi i-compromise ‘yung violence ng pelikula dahil ito ay true story, kaya kailangan sundin natin ang istorya,” said he in earlier interviews.

Ejercito is now singing a different tune.

“Kasi ang isyu, eh, Pasko. ’Yung Christmas season. Ayaw nila ng violence ang tema. Siyempre, ’pag gumawa tayo, hard action. Kaya naman nakita nila sa script pa lang, may putulan ng paa, putulan ng ulo, kamay. So, napaka-violent ng script. So, we have to trim down the script to fit the taste of the screening committee. Tinone-down naming ’yung script para hind maging violent. Konting violence na lang,” he was quoted in a report on PEP.
