A day after Marcelito Pomoy’s birthday, the family of the “Pilipinas Got Talent” grand winner met with an unfortunate incident that left them, along with hundreds of residents in downtown Bislig, Surigao del Sur, homeless.
The singer’s father, Mario Pomoy Sr., confirmed in a Bombo Radyo report that their house was completely destroyed in the fire that broke out early Saturday, and none of their things were saved due the rapid turn of events.
His other son, Mario Jr., and grandsons were able to quickly left the house and were unharmed.
The fire was said to have left an estimated damage of P700,000 to both old and new houses of Pomoy.
The Kapamilya star, who is said to have unaware of the incident, recently went to Canada with Yeng Constantino and Jovit Baldivino for a tour.
Reports said that the fire began at around 11 a.m. Allegedly caused by a malfunctioning ceiling fan, it started from a house in Purok 3, Barameda St. in Riverside District and eventually spread to the neighboring Purok 4, Caramcam District.
Meanwhile, a 92-year-old handicapped woman was found dead after the fire had been extinguished.
