Krista K — the artist formerly known as Binibining Pilipinas-International 2010 Krista Kleiner — will be one of the headliners at the 1 World Music Festival in Singapore next weekend.
Coinciding with the prestigious Formula One race weekend this September 20 and 21, the music festival considered as the biggest in Asia will showcase international celebrity talent as well as local Singaporean and regional acts.
Aside from Krista, the festival will also be headlined by world class acts like DJ singer-songwriter Moby and hip-hop rapper Snoop Dogg, who now calls himself Snoop Lion.
As one of the main acts, Krista will be performing a 30-minute set at the main stage of Singapore’s Marina Barrage on September 21 during the two-day music festival.
Performers also include Far East Movement, Iggy Azalea, Infected Mushroom, Orbital, the Cataracs, Cobra Starship and Black Eyed Peas member Taboo who performed with Krista and R & B smoothie Craig David in Kuala Lumpur only last April.
That same month, Krista also reinvented herself from beauty queen to dance pop diva with the Philippine launch of her own album which she describes as “an amazing fusion of dance, pop and R & B.”
A one-time protégé of world-renowned Spanish balladeer Julio Iglesias, who personally invited her to be a guest performer for his 2010 world tour, Krista said it’s always a great honor for her to be performing alongside universally acclaimed artists.
“To think I only started singing two years ago. It just goes to show that hard work and commitment really pay off. I’ve never been happier in any other field of work and I look forward to rocking out with Singapore and all the upcoming stops on my regional tour,” she enthused.
Her ongoing Krista K’s Regional Tour has seen her perform at the WeLoveAsia Festival in Kuala Lumpur with Cuban-American rap sensation PitBull. She also has upcoming gigs stops in Jakarta and Bangkok. Now based in Malaysia where her musical career has taken off, Krista is looking forward to adding a final show in Manila, where she was based for a while after being born and raised in Orange County in California.
“I hope to wrap up my tour with a final show in Manila to show my gratitude to the country that gave me a start in the entertainment industry five years ago. Even though I’m no longer living in the Philippines, the country and my fellow Filipinos will always be close to my heart,” she added.
