Singer-songwriter Marion Aunor wants her music to not only be appreciated by Pinoys, but by other nationalities too.

“Gusto ko din pong makatawid yung OPM sa ibang cultures like for example yung K-pop nakarating na siya dito (sa Philippines) na na-appreciate natin, gusto ko din pong ma-appreciate ng ibang culture yung music (ko),” Marion told Bulletin Entertainment at the launch of her eponymous debut album held at Live Vive Cafe in Makati City.

She first created buzz via her entry “If You Ever Change Your Mind” in this year’s “Himig Handog” tilt, and with this new album under Star Records, she hopes to create her own identity in the music industry.

Marion’s songs are based on her own experiences. She usually writes songs inside her car, doing freestyle with melody and lyrics whenever she can. She also gets inspiration by observing people.

Asked why her album took a long time before it was launched, Marion said, “Para magkaroon po ng mga covers… tapos recently na play po sa MOR yung ‘Just Give Me A Reason.’ I was lucky enough na yung ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ nakasali sa MOR Top 10, nag-start siya from Top 5, Top 4, Top 3 tapos naging Top 2 po.”

“Just Give Me A Reason” is a Pink and Nate Reuss original. Marion’s version is in her album.

The singer-songwriter hopes people would buy or download music legally.

“Kasi popular ngayon ang illegal downloading of songs, movies, TV shows… andami kong nakikita na may person na nagtweet ‘ay binili ko na yung album ni Marion’ tapos yung susunod na nag-tweet ‘bat mo binili sana dinownload mo nalang sa website…’ I hope we can find a solution to this problem para ‘di naman mag suffer ‘yung music industry dito sa Philippines,” said she whose musical influences include Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles.

“Marion Aunor” has 12 tracks including “Fallen” (promotional song) and “Do, Do, Do.”
