Despite being in Indonesia to represent the country in the Miss World pageant, Megan Young has made time to ask for help to save her flood-stricken hometown, Olongapo City.
On Monday, Young posted on the Miss World 2013 Philippines Facebook page, a photo of the current condition of her city that’s been put under a state of calamity due to flooding caused by monsoon rains.
Young wrote, “This is what is happening RIGHT NOW in my hometown in the Philippines. This is the public market and it is nearly submerged. If this is underwater, what more the houses nearby?”

The 23-year-old TV actress-host appealed for help on behalf of her kababayans. “Please help my friends and neighbors by voicing out to the rescue team to save those whose houses are underwater. Please collect as many old clothes as you can. Their food and water are probably all gone and they need that the most.”
“Floods happen all the time in the Philippines but year by year they seem to be getting worse,” the Fil-Am beauty lamented.
“Brothers and sisters, I ask you to lend a hand out to those in need. I ask that you make those around you aware of what is happening and show them what they can do to help. Whether big or small, help is appreciated and it may help save a life,” Young concluded.
The Miss World 2013 coronation night is on Sept. 28.
