Raymart Santiago on Tuesday filed a counter-affidavit before the Marikina Regional Trial Court denying Claudine Barretto’s charge of violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004.

In a 24-page counter-affidavit, Santiago refuted the “physical, sexual, psychological and economic” abuse accusations. Claiming that he was a victim of physical abuse in Claudine’s hands, he showed a photo of himself in torn clothes and bearing what appears to be bruises.

The 40-year-old actor accused his estranged wife of drug abuse, offering photographs, video clips and a medical record as supposed evidence.

Along with their former employees as witnesses, he also presented testimonies of Barretto siblings, – Gretchen, Marjorie and JJ – supporting his claim that the actress is “mentally ill.”

“Malungkot ako at kailangan pang lumabas lahat ito. Kagaya ng sinabi ko, hanggang ngayon, iyon pa rin ang sasabihin ko, hindi ko ginustong ilabas ‘to. Pero ganun sila, eh, marami silang nilalabas at kailangan ko lang din sumagot. Siguro para din sa mga anak ko, para malaman nila ‘yung totoo,” he told members of the press.

Barreto is set to submit their formal answer on Oct. 8, but they have already denied Raymart’s charge.

Santiago on Monday also filed a separate counter-affidavit in a Pasig City court in connection with the perjury charge slapped by Barretto against him and his tree lawyers.

Santiago’s Atty. Ruth Castello defended that they have yet to receive the copy of Barretto’s petition for temporary protection order (TPO) when they made their sworn statement last Aug. 7.
