Sheryl and Sunshine make peace

Actress Sheryl Cruz has confirmed that she and cousin Sunshine Cruz have finally buried the hatchet.

“Everything is good between the two of us. Wala na ’yung mga problema… We already put it in the past. We’re moving forward,” Sheryl told PEP at the press conference for ABS-CBN’s afternoon fantaserye “Galema,” which reunites the two.

Their rift supposedly stemmed from Ricky Belmonte’s (Sheryl’s dad) death in 2001, wherein her cousins Sunshine and Geneva Cruz allegedly criticized Sheryl for not being able to return from the US to attend her father’s wake.

The 39-year-old related that it was Sunshine who opened the issue on the set of “Galema,” to which Sheryl replied, “Wala na ’yun. It’s already done.”

She explained, “I know naman na it’s hard to bite your tongue or to control what you want to say, lalo na pag emotions are in play…

“But then, the thing is, sabi ko lang ganun, it’s just sad lang kasi para bang hindi muna inisip bago magbitaw ng salita, na I’m also hurting. ’Yun ’yun, eh. Being a daughter, ganyan, losing a father…”

Sheryl related that she was “just waiting lang,” adding that she is “not a person who keeps a grudge.”

“’Di ba, kung sino ’yung nagbitiw ng salita, ’yung magsabi man lang ng ‘Ate, okay na tayo…’ ’Yung ganun lang. Kasi ako naman, hindi naman ako madamot sa aking pagbigay ng kapatawaran.”

In the end, blood really is thicker than water.

“Yung family mo, kayu-kayo pa rin naman in the end ang magtutulungan, magdadamayan, di ba? So, ’yung akin lang, iniisip ko na lang siguro dahil mas bata.

“And iniisip ko na lang din na kung ano man yung nangyayari ngayon na bond, between Sunshine and I, natutuwa yung (mga) tatay namin.”
