Comedian-TV host John ‘Sweet’ Lapus is happy that Jobert Sucaldito has admitted writing a report about him based on “fabricated” accounts by sources.

“Ang sarap ng feeling. Lumabas na din ang katotohanan…” Lapus told PEP.

Then again, he rattled off a barrage of questions about Sucaldito’s column, “(Pero) bakit ang liit lang ng headline, unlike yung article niya two years ago? Bakit ‘may paglilinaw’ lang ang title? Bakit ang word na ginamit ay ‘regret’? Hindi ba pwedeng ‘sorry’ or ‘apologize’ na lang? Bakit parang ang sinisi, yung witness niyang palpak? Gano’n lang ba ‘yon?”

Recall that in 2011, Lapus filed a libel case against Sucaldito for a column item that alleged the comedian made a scene at a bar in Malate, Manila and was nearly attacked by a guy because of an offensive joke.

In Sucaldito’s column recently, he named his sources then wrote: “Bilang kolumnista, I just did my job na isulat ang isyu dahil isang celebrity si Lapus—a public figure,” adding, “Sana’y malimutan na namin ang mga bagay-bagay na ito…”

Lapus has asked his followers on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for their opinion on this latest development.

“Aba, nagulat ako, parang mas madami ang nagsasabing ituloy ko daw ang demanda… Pero tama din naman yung iba, na forgive na, para may peace of mind and blessing.

“Now, ang family ko na lang ang kinukonsulta ko, kung iuurong na ba namin ang demanda, since inamin naman na ang katotohanan,” he pointed out in the same article.

Is he ready to forgive?

“Honestly, forgiving them is the bigger option, especially for the sake of the editor and the publisher, since hindi naman sila ang sumulat… (Pero) nag-express naman siya ng desire na bumawi sa akin when I saw him.”
