Ai Ai’s son wants to be her protector

Sancho delas Alas, the eldest son of Ai Ai delas Alas, grew up without his biological father. As far as he is concerned, though, that has not made him any less of a person.

“Never naman niyang (Ai Ai) ipinaramdam sa amin na kahit na walang tatay, eh, kulang. As in lagi siyang nandoon for us,” he said during his live interview on Sunday’s “Buzz ng Bayan.”

Sancho feels the need to be his mother’s protector, something he thought he has failed at when he found out his mother’s problems with second husband Jed Salang.

“Parang ako mixed emotions. Parang ako, ako ’yung panganay na anak. Ako dapat ’yung dapat na nagpo-protekta sa ’yo tapos malalaman ko na ganito na pala ’yung nangyayari,” he said, referring to his mother’s emotional interview on “The Buzz” months back.

Speaking during the segment dealing with broken families, Sancho shared that his then-stepfather Miguel Vera, Ai Ai’s first husband, treated him like his own son. “Si Papa Migs naman po kasi trinato niya rin po ako na tunay na anak. So kumbaga parang kami talaga ’yung family parang gano’n.”

While he didn’t know details about his father, he discovered his identity by accident.

“May incident lang po na nanonood ako ng TV, sabi ko ‘Ma tingnan mo itong lalaking ito!’ Tapos namumutla siya, ’yun pala ’yung tinuturo kong lalaki was my dad,” he related.

Unconditional love

The actress-comedienne, on the other hand, is proud of what Sancho and her other kids have become, describing them as really good children.

“I will love you unconditionally … And your two brothers and your sister .. God bless you Sancho Vito,” read Ai Ai’s post on her Instagram account (aiaidelasalas), where she posted a TV shot of Sancho during the “Buzz ng Bayan” live interview.

Aside from Sancho, Ai Ai has two children with Miguel, namely Sofia and Sean Niccolo. In 2011, she adopted a baby boy, Seth Andrei.

“Kaagapay ko si Lord at Mama Mary sa pagpapalaki sa kanila kung ako lang d (’di) yan lalaki ng ganyan kasi ako pa din ang nag wo work para sa kanila .. Biyayang bigay ni God swerte ko mababait mga anak ko, thank u (you) Lord,” she said on another post.
